Help Lou the Pou! .303 needs your help!

PM sent to 'Chopper - many thanks to all.

Some questions:
1) Any suggestions re: the grenade launcher cup? It'd be nice to have soemthing that looked good and military rather than some stuff bodged together from the hardware store. IIRC, IMA used to carry repro versions, but no longer does.
2) Any tips re: spinning the barrel off? How big of a wrench do I need? I don't want to spring the receiver - Is there a place on the receiver where I can grab it without risking damage?
3) What threads am I looking for on the barrel stub?
4) Anyone got a badly thrashed mag body they'd be willing to part with? I have another Enfield that I could pull the mag from, but it seems a shame not to finish this one nicely.
5) I am going to be seeing that shade of Submerged Corpse Green in my nightmares. Any ideas re: stripping it? There's a possiblity that Bubba left bluing underneath, so I'd like to avoid any kind of mechanical stripping if I can.

Cheers, lads. This stuff's fun!

All I know is that Brownell's sells an action wrench for the SMLE, and that you should not use something that's not made for an SMLE (either the action 'wrench' or the barrel vise) if you use something rigged up you may risk damaging the receiver, or so I've heard.

I heard it's a good idea to get an extra bolt and take the extractor out and use that to support the receiver whilst you take out the barrel.

I don't really know much about taking off SMLE barrels, maybe someone will help you out with some more information in that regard. ;)

If you want to make one of those Jawa zappers, just get a machinist to rig up some bushings, *and the 'barrel' of course, the rest can be common pieces of pipe hold the thing together with set-screws, hey all you are doing is going to get a solid piece in there for the barrel right? the outside diameter for the 'barrel' can be a common od like 1"

Edit: for the pipe, try to get something with a uniform wall thickness, and no seam.

D A D : Simulated launcher cup - would an old grease gun cylinder cut to length be too small diameter wise? Must have been a long, very cold winter in Edmonton with not enough projects to keep you busy to make you want to do this to the poor old girl LOL. Kayceel
