Help me build an Open Glock

Well I have a new project. I purchased a well used G34 and I want to turn it into a fire breathing 9mm major gun. I would like to use optics on the gun as well. I have not seen many of these guns at matches and have never even fired one.
I bought the G34 for a good price so I have a decent budget for upgrades. Can anyone recommend any specific parts for me? What works and what doesn't work?

A few years ago there was an article in front sight that evalualted a bunch of shroud/mount and barrel/comp combos that were available for the Glock.
 
I'd suggest a good optic, like a Docter, a magwell and maybe a stainless guiderod to put a little weight on the front of that gun.

Well I can tell you that this set up works ok.

No complaints.

It shoots.

Its a Glock 17 dressed in somewhat an open division format.

Its got everything done to the nines. Trigger @4lbs custom reset, custom barrel sights iron & glass, springs pins levers mag skirt ...Extended clip (lol)



The HK Mark 23 and the Springfield XD40 is there for a size comparison.



Its easily the lightest of the three and points nice and fast.

if you are going to build a proper Open gun, don't put the RDS on the slide, put it on the frame, otherwise you're not gaining all you can gain from the RDS

No need to get even more of an unfair advantage since I am capable of shooting 1 shot measuring 0.354331 with this Glock.......
 
Jager has this kit for 599 that would get me started. All I would need is a magwell and basepads for magazines.

If I am not happy with the setup I may go with a Bobby Carver setup and a Cmore sight mounted to the frame.
 
check out Bobby Carver's stuff (bb-enterprise.biz). I know for sure he can sell you the proper mount and magwell, not sure bout the compensator. You can get a threaded barrel from Questar

red dot on slide is no fun for open div. The bobby carver mounts are nice for regular c-mores and other red dots and it's frame attached
