Help me choose 9mm 1911 Kimber vs Springfield

I vote for the STI Tojan too.
I'd probably vote Kimber too,but have never tried one.
The Trojan I have is in .40 but I wouldn,t hesitate buying one in 9mm.
The Trojan is built with good parts.
No need to upgrade.
Came with a 3 and 1/2 lb. trigger but with a little fluff and buff
is at 2 and1/2 lbs.
Gun feeds flawlessly, good fit, excellent adjustable sights, dovetailed front sight.
Good bang for the buck.
A step above a Springfield Loaded IMO
Hell, maybe I should grab one in 9mm too.

^ you mentioned that...I have a Gov. model. Looking for a Commander too. 9mm is great to shoot out of a 1911...I was blasting cans and golf balls yesterday.

My first gun was a Springfield 1911 A1 Loaded. I got it home and took the grips off and it was full of rust. After fighting with the dealer they finally took it back. I bought a Mil-spec Springfield and it's okay. Very simple but bites a little bit. I also bought a Kimber Grand Raptor II and it's one of the nicest I have shot. I would go with a Kimber. My Grand Raptor is very accurate and fun to shoot.

Well Every manufacturer will have its blems. Nothing wrong with any of the above. I have a springer no problems what so ever. Don't get to caught up in the 1911 race. Get something thats not to $$$. Personally I would not spend to much on a 1911. Believe me I did. Look at Armco Norcs. I would opt for one of those. If you ever had an issue he would fix it, plus they work. But if brand is important to you and $$ is not an issue, Get what you really want.

Bingo - Fun to shoot.

Only major problem with Springfield... try and find one! :( I though of about getting one since my .45 is great and never had troubles that wasn't ammo related. Can't get them. Springfield is the worst for backordered stuff. Like can't use my XD45 for IPSC because no extra mags available. Lot of retailers are taking the heat for something that isn't their fault.

Don't want to upset the Kimber people but everytime I seen a new 1911 lock up at the range, it's been a Kimber.

Fot the guy looking at the Springer GI model... the thing is great. My buddy bought one. Again, no problems out of the box except a few ammo related glitches. I want one but other stuff first. :p

I received my Trojan a while ago. The slide / frame fit is amazing. Accuracy is superb I would really recommend this to anyone who wants a 9mm 1911.

I like the 9mm so much that I going to build a custom 9mm. I have a bare Norinco frame, 9mm Caspian Slide I'm going to decide if I want to standard Kart 9mm barrel or ramped 9mm barrel.

What are you thinking? 9mm? get a 40 or 45. Something with put down power. kimber is good & springfield is heavy. Pick one up , if it fits you and if you can hit what you want with it, that's the one. Practice will help, but how it fits your hand and lines up with your eye cannot be ignored.

"put down power"? 9mm is more than enough to make a hole in paper.

Look at a Taurus,Ijust recieved one in .45 an it is well made an with extras that you would have to add on with some other 1911's

I'd prefer the Kimber over the Springfield anyday.

Better yet, a Norinco 9mm and slicked up by Gunnar @ Armco is the way for me. Exremely affordable, accurate and beautifull trigger. It feeds everything I give it and some. :D

I'm considering one of these for my wife, but I don't think I could stand the wait time again.

It's been a while since i started this thread last year. I bought a 9mm springfield 1911A1 loaded in february 2007. I'm very satisfied. I shot about 2000 rounds with it and I had no problem. I found it at Wolverine Supplies where i received a good service.

I also bought a S&W model 386 (357 mag) during summer. Now i wait for the range to reopen when the snow will melt.

Thank you for the info you gave me. it helped
