Help me choose a brake for .22LR

ATRS sells non-modified Levang comps for $39 IIRC I cant remember the outside dia. but you will need a strap wrench or some creative inginuity to install it without damage as it has no wrench flats like the Dlask re-worked ones. Others have mentioned the Levang improving groups, mostly with cheap ammo but I havent tested mine yet to see. They do direct muzzle blast forward making it more comfortable for both the shooter and bystanders. If you cant find or dont want a Levang, TSE is importing Troy ind. now and they had claymore brakes in stock but are currently sold out. Same design as the Levang just a hell of alot more aggressive :D

Thanks for the lead.
Cause he can thread his own barrel with the lathe? Is this why this is the best quote of the week?
This may be the NEW best quote of the week.:D

Back to the original topic: Volquartsen sells, or sold, a brake-like muzzle gizmo called (I think) an Expansion Chamber. IIRC it was supposed to increase accuracy by smoothing out airflow around the departing bullet, or something like that. Is this a valid idea? The thing looked like a massive muzzle brake with ports on all sides.

It sucks Dlask dosent have the Reworked Levang comps anymore... It works great on my 12.5

Yah, I saw those Levang comps they had awhile back. Shoulda got one. How exactly does it improve your 22? You mentioned it works great? Great at protecting, or do you find it actually does more than that?

I spoke to Dlask about this. He has a replacment for this product coming in this week or next.

Yeah, well, I should have not brought all that in regards
to mh434's post.

Maybe his barrels are too thick for his lathe's headstock,
or maybe the barrel/receiver are too long for the lathe,
or maybe the tailstock is missing,
or maybe it was not my fukken business at all.

Being a naturally born ass hole,
lots of times I talk sh!t faster than I can think

mh434, you have my apologies.

I am sure you will be able to do
a lot of wonderful things on your lathe.
I wish you all the best.

Hi "J" man,

Joe Dlask sent me the .30 cal one and it works other than the necessity of a crush washer that I mentioned. It's also cheaper than the .45 cal, on sale for $55. It just screws on, so I don't think that any gunsmithing is required because its ports are symmetrical all the way around.

It's a good point made by mh434 about protecting the crown as well.

Dlask only seems to have .30 and .45 cal XB4s,

Ok, enough back and forth about this and that. The OP asked what muzzle brake for a .22; there is only 1 choice that makes any sense. The brake off of a Mossberg 500 Roadblocker. There is NO reason to look further:p
Cheers!!

Anything else would be uncivilized.

HAhahaha. God no! I actually ordered up a DPMS Levang compensator for it. I just hope the .971" comp doesn't look too silly on a 12.5" factory contour barrel.
