Help me choose a deer rifle

Someone has a remington 760 in 30-06 with a scope in the EE right now for $450, couldn't go wrong with that rifle.

Sage advice. :)

I'd look for a good, used Remington 760 or 7600 in 270, 308 or 30-06, especially if you might someday entertain a moose hunt. If deer only, I'd add 243 to the top of the list. Top it with a reasonable quality 1-4x or 1.5-5x scope.

Can't go wrong with the Mennonite MachineGun !

Surprisingly accurate and totally reliable.

I have a Marlin 30AS (basically the same as the 336 listed.) I like mine as a cary gun for deer hunting.
I would also look at a savage in any of the common hunting calibers. They are a great gun for the money.

Go with the 06. If you do happen to get that moose draw you will be ready. The other thing is you will find that if you start to reload , your posibilities with the .30 caliber are endless.
