So I am in the market for a new scope to put on this AR Colt IUR

My shorty upper has a Trijicon 1-4x TR24G. I was thinking for this upper something with crosshairs this time, not sure what power range though. Other option is to use the Trijicon and save several hundred or a thousand $$.

I'm just curious to see what others are running and the rationale for the decisions. I'd like a good set up to get 500-600 yards with this configuration.

Thanks for your input.

Vortex 1-4 PST (800$ with ADM Mount on EE, works sorta like a red dot on 1x with illum on), or a Razor HDII 1-6 (prolly 2000$ on EE, but it's like looking into the face of god, and will get you to 4-600yds, and can work like a red dot at 1x with illum on).

Fixed Bushnell 10X will be cheap and work well for 500-600 yds shots. I'm suggesting it as an option because plenty of guys use them on their M-305's and claim they are durable. If you feel the need for snob appeal you can just put the Trijicon on it for the day.

I have used a 1.75-5 Burris and it was great, but not for longer shots. I now use a mil/mil 4-16 Vortex and a Burris reflex Red Dot on a 45 deg mount for the closer work.

I would just use the Trijicon, unless you have regular access to a 500-600 yard range...my AR's with Nightforce optics optics never get out past 300 yards, and that only happens once a year or so...

Mount the Trijicon on your IUR and pick up a red dot for the short barreled upper.

I would second that!

Moving scopes from one to the other I always find a hassle as you have to find zero again. Especially if you want to reach out to 500 - 600 yrds.

You won't go wrong with a red dot or reflex and you will have the option to add a magnifier if you want although it adds some extra weight.

Thank you all. I do appreciate the thoughtful responses.

I think I will move the Trijicon over for now, and maybe a red dot later for the shorty. I can only shoot one at a time anyway, and the glass in the Trijicon is spectacular to look through.
