Help me choose between the 3 rifles

M70, .30-06.

Already own the Featherweight in this calibre. Love the 70's, just never owned/tried the Tikka's or Brownings. I do like the thought of a detach mag, but wouldnt be the straw that breaks the deal though. High gloss on the Browning makes it a nice wall hanger, but any ding or scratch will be visible. Deep down inside Im a Winchester fan ( much like being a Leaf fan ) and will be for life probably.

As to why wanting the 300 over and above my 30-06... well, its kind of like this. Its like owning a .22 and .22mag. Gotta have both.

The new Model 70 for sure in 300 WSM! If I were in the market for a new rifle that would be it. Winchester is producing a grreat quality rifle for the money, actually better than Kimber that is more money. They must want to make a serious come-back!

High gloss on the Browning makes it a nice wall hanger,

Pimpin! Put spinners on your car too
The Brownings are nothing to write home about, like everyone else says, if you are limiting yourself to those three choice :)confused:) get the win, the new ones are very nice, and Browning basically gets your money anyway.

Well.... unlike you I dont make the big bucks so I cannot afford the Kimbers or Sako's (;)) I do like the Win's though. Have a few. Just Ive never owned a Tikka or Browning.

Curious though... looking at the Win70 Supergrade in 300wm, barrel length is 26. The 300wsm barrel is 24. Is going with a 300wsm only issue supply at local stores? Would prefer the 24 over 26 barrel. Just ask any woman.. 2 inches is the difference between ooohhhh and aaaahhhhh . :D

Finally... whats the difference between a supergrade and xtr over a regular 70?

I hunt ss/synthetics but I've owned my share of Model 70s.IMHO they are a step above either of the other makes you mentioned. Mur

Only one way to go there in my mind, win model 70 in 300wm.

I have one and it kills moose, I have the featherweight m70 in 300wm and its awsome.

I have added a detachable box mag to mine but not needed.

The 300wm is a better cartridge for moose in my mind, it's flatter shooting and the .338wm is nice but it's the little baby of the .338's if you want a big cartridge get a real big one.

But no matter what he 300 wm will kill them just as dead as any of the larger calibers.

My 30-06 has killed a few too.

Good luck and post pictures when you get it,

In the looks department, Browning all the way. I can't believe they call the winchester a super grade and the end cap is painted on with black paint? Tikas are plain ugly in my opionion. Shooting wise i am sure all would be fairly equal. Action wise like mentioned before the browning and tika have less bolt throw. For me it would be a browning. I tend to shy away from winchester after the Bolt on my M70 in .270 cracked.

Looking to purchase a moose gun. Interested in 300wm or 338. Models are

- Winchester 70
- Tikka M3
- Browning Gold Medallion

The gun will be the wood stocked ( horny for wood ) and I'll put a nice scope on at a later date when I decide which model/make.

What have you used and your likes/dislikes between the 3 ? Either the 300 or 338 if good for me, so calibre is not really an issue here... both are good.

Suggestions?????

You really can't go wrong with any of the three !!

Personally, I would go for the Winchester 70 in a Super Grade.

The fact that of those three choices I like the Tikka best is surely enough reason for you to spend your money on one and live with it.

But if you must be obstinate and contrary, go ahead and get the one you like best.
