OK 25-06 hunters, I just purchased my first .25 cal hunting rifle ever. It's a 25-06 Marlin bolt off the EE and I will be hunting it exclusively for Nova Scotia Whitetails. I have shot .30 cal mainly .308 150 gr Core locks for the past many years so I have no idea what the best 25-06 FACTORY medicine will be. Not a reloader so I have to buy by the box. Suggestions??

I used Federal Premium 117 gr. BTSP Sierra Gamekings for about 20 years, on both Alberta whitetails and BC muleys. More one shot, DRT, kills than I care to brag about. Very, very accurate ammo, which Sierra is noted for. Those eastern whitetails, if you do your part, will drop like rocks!

Hand Loading or factory?

I checked the Remington Balistic Calculator and they have 115 and 120 grain core Lokts at 3000 and 2990 fps.

Both would be good choices.

For handloads I use 120 grain Hornady HP and they stay together.

This year I'll be trying 100 grain ballistic tips and have no doubt they will do the trick. They are very accurate in my current 25-06.

Let the rifle tell you what you should use.

What works in mine or my neighbor a block over may in most cases perform totally different in your rifle.

Time for a shopping trip me thinks.

Hornady superformance. 117gr sst really kills
I've had amazing results with 120gr winchester grey box PP cxp2

I tried fusions and in my tests they did not perform well but would still kill a deer

I handload now
