Hey guys I'm in the market for a 16" gas piston AR15, my two current front runners are the Sig 516 patrol and the Barrett rec7. Anyone had experience with either of these rifles good or bad? They are around the same price so that's not really a factor. I'm also open to recommendations of other rifles as well.
Thanks in advance for your advice.

The sig is definitely the best value for the money hands down in the piston market. The Rec 7 is a very nice rifle as well, I've had a decent amount of trigger time behind the first generation and the gen 2. At 3k though they're pretty pricey. And I'd rather go PWS at that point.

For 2016, HK now officially announced the following updates to the MR Product line:

MR223A3 with 11in, 14,5 and 16,5in barrel

MR308A3 with 13in, 16,5 and 20in barrel

- all are delivered by factory with Slim Line HKey guard

I have a US SIG 516 14.5" SBR. In general the system works fine and accuracy is decent ( 10 round of 5" at 200m with PMC 62gr)

Thanks guys! I have a friend of a friend who has both a rec7 and a H&K556 and he has agreed to let me run a few mags through each this weekend. Though I would still like to shoot the 516 as well though as its a little bit less $ and I'm a Sig fanboy.
Thanks again to all those that responded, I doubt I could go wrong with any of the rifles suggested.
