Help me choose my new gas piston AR

PWS.

I have an LMT piston AR and a PWS. The PWS is lighter and less nose heavy. The PWS has the piston rod attached to the BCG so the entire mechanism recoils (like swissarms or AK).

That being said the Sig 516 supposedly had some design features by people who worked on HK gun. Price is reasonable too.

If you're not going for the industry best then get an Adams Arms conversion or dedicated upper, more than adequate for range work.

I believe most of sigs technology is derived from LWRC's piston offerings. This alone makes it the top contender for value.

The sig push rod design is not the same as the LWRC. Sig hired one of the managers who work on the hk416, whose expertise was supposedly on testing and program managing responsibilities. So I am not sure they directly borrow designs from each other. People change jobs all the time and head to where opportunities are better.

They famously borrowed LWRC bolt carrier in their show guns, but bolt carriers for short stroke push rod guns are pretty much the same for all the guns, because the receiver dimensions are the same for everyone. I won't be surprised if most push rod bolt carriers will at least fit into uppers of other manufacturers , if not function to certain degree. Remember, armalite Ar10 was developed on a KAC lower by LMT.

At the end of the day , there are only so many ways to place a push rod inside an standard ar receiver, so it is not surprising they all end up about the same. The devil is always in the details.
