Help me choose my new grips

Okay, so I just got a 686 into my grubby little paws and I'm not a fan of the grips. They look nice but the gun is front heavy and the grips are uncomfortable due to that.

The rubber was my original intent, but I don't think they will do the gun justice. In any case I have some ordered and when they show up I will see first hand I guess.

They're custom made based on a tracing of your hand and aren't much different in cost from the Hogue grips. I have a pair on my K-38 and they are far more comfortable than the blocky factory target grips.

I definantly want finger grooves. I have a set of hogues for my cz and love how they fit my hand. That said, I am not set on them but they have lots of options and a nice site so that is why I have been looking at them. There are sooo many websites for grips, but most of them are set up so terribly I don't even want to bother with them.
 
Herrett's can also do finger grooved grips. All of their revolver grips are custom made for your hand.
 
You don't like the factory grips? You know you can't get those any more since S&W went to cr*ppy Hogues. If you have medium (like me) to large hands, you will absolutely HATE Hogues. They are too thin (L-R) and the finger grooves are annoying due to their placement. They are a bit better with their Ruger model but still bite.

Best thing is go to a gun show and get an original set for $20 (or the ones on your gun if you don't care) and take a dremel tool and custom fit them to your hand. Re-varnish and you have a custom fitted classic grip on your classic 686. Obviously a classic one since the new ones only come with the garbage rubber grips and with the no lock and the adjustable front sights on yours.

Are you talking strictly revolver grips or have you tried hogue finger grooves on pistol. I too have medium to large hands and I quite like their pistol finger grooves, so I assumed their revolvers would be similar?
