Help me choose my Schmidt&Bender!

5-25 is great! I have one with the p4 fine and one coming with the h59. I also have a 12-50 but it's honestly it never gets turned up that high. I'd go with a FFP so hold overs work at any magnification , my 12-50 is SFP and I'm not a big fan of it after learning how to properly use a FFP
As far as rings - NEAR alpha mount ! All mine sit in his mounts
As far as retical - do you prefer doing pure holds ? Or to dial your DOPE? The h59 is a pure hold retical for more tactical "a hit is a hit" type of shooting where as a p4 is more a standard mildot (with hash marks instead of dots) and is a bit more accuracy friendly

This is exactly the dilemma I have been going over for the last few days. deciding between the S &B pm2 5-25 and the 12.5-50 for my new Sako trg 42 338.
the 5-25 has 93 moa of adjustment if you get the 1 cm click or the 1/4 moa click has 56 moa total and the 12.5-50 has 75 moa with the 1 cm click and 64 moa with the 1/4 moa click..
as far as mounts I am going with a near alpha mount and base. sphur also makes a nice mount as well. The 5-25 you should be able to get the 45 moa rail on it but the 12.5-50 you may be stuck with the 25 moa rail.
so the 5-25 would leave you with a max of 138 moa of travel (93 moa in scope and 45 rail) and the 12-50 would leave you with a max 100 (75 in scope and 25 rail)
if you plan on shooting ultra long range (2 km)then the 5-25 with 1cm click may be more appropriate, the 12-50 would let you see it better but may not allow you enough adjustment to reach out to 2 km
if you are shooting within about 1500-1600 you could likely use either scope

I would not go any higher power ....after buring almot 100gr of Retumbo a few times, the heat comming of barrel, even with mirage band , you will find yourself dialing down the power a bit anyways

I have almost the exact same setup. Pretty much perfect to 2000yrds, and thats not even getting deep into the reticle.
You WILL want the P4L fine reticle.
That will be the one I get when the time is right.

From what I know the MSR Is essentially just a mildot with a milling grid stuck in it for being able to accurately range targets , there is no sub tensions for being able to hold your wind calls . I guess it depends what your planing on doing with it ? Slow thought out shots that you have time to dial elevation and wind or hold over and dial wind would be fine with the MSR. Where as the h59 allows for hold over for both elevation and wind. Which is better suited for shooting with limited time openings or movers .
Where is the best place to go for Schmidt&Bender? Ive only seen one in person at Wanstalls when I was living near there. Very very nice! I think their new 1-8x would be the perfect scope for my M14 blackfeather.
My choice would be the 5-25x. Not that my experience with long range is very extensive, but Im looking for something in that power range right now.

Exactly what I was planning to go with on a 50BMG. However the 2.75" eye relief scared me off. If it had 3.5" I would have bought one. 75 moa with a 30 Moa base would be fine with that setup. Really wanted this scope on it too. Probably going to go with a NF 5.5-22x I have on another rifle. Just waiting for the eye relief to be extended on the S&B for the perfect scope.
Just got back from the Berger Southwest Nationals. First time out with the S&B 50. On a calm morning (no mirage) on a fresh target, I could see the target pasters at 50x at 1000 yards.
I left the scope on 50 except for one afternoon. The scope was excellent just have to do my part.
