Help me choose please

After shooting friends hand guns over the past few years I'm ready to pull the trigger. I've narrowed it down to either S&W 686 Competitor or a Glock 17 MOS with Ameriglo Sights.

Between the 2 which one would you choose? I might buy both and then ask for forgiveness from the wife.

I would ask for forgiveness. Always good to learn multiple platforms.

If you take the Glock, I would take Trijicon HDs or Dawson Precision sights over the Ameriglo.

Shoot them both and decide what one you want more. If you can't decide get both.

If you have had a chance to handle them go with the one that feels best, and that you shoot with the best. You can always get the other one later.

Some choice.
Buy both? I dont know about that. Most new shooters gravitate to autos & 9mm is the best choice.
Im thinking you should start with the new Glock 17 gen 5. Its an outstanding pistol, the only one better is CZ's superb SP01 Shadow.

You cannot go wrong with either the G17 or the SP01.

For starters what was it your friend had? If your familiar and comfortable with what your friend had then it might be smart to pick something along the lines of what they have.

If you want to do tactical shooting, IPSIC, or 3 gun at some point id say stick with the glock and mod the living daylights out of it. On the other hand, if you prefer to just hit the range and plink, then id say chose the S&W because of the accuracy, and crisp trigger. Honestly yes its two opposite platforms and cannot be compared at all, but meh, I tried!

My 2 cents? Just buy a CZ shadow, or a SP-01, or a CZ Shadow 2. Like the glock extremely customizable, has much less snap/wiggle/twist, and will out shoot a glock ANY day out of the box.

as mentioned, buy both, you'll be happy you did. I loved my 686, and I love my glock 21.
I think its a matter of fact, there aren't too many guns I don't enjoy.

I think I'm going to buy the S&W 686 Competitor first as they seem harder to find. I'm amazed at the price range, I've seen prices range from $1435 to $1870, is that normal to have such a wide price range?

Glock or CZ Shadows might find their way under the Christmas tree.
