I currently have a Vortex Red dot on my Beretta 1301 for turkey but want to put a magnified scope on for slugs this deer season.

Looking at the Leupold VX-Freedom 3-9x40 Muzzleloader Ultimateslam.

Any other suggestions I should consider for a decent shotgun slug scope?

I'd look for a used Redfield Revolution in 2-7 with duplex reticle. I have two and like them a lot. One sits on my CVA ML, the other is a spare.

They were made by Leupold and work very well and are usually priced very well compared to Leupold. I have a third here in 4-12. The only thing to watch with these is the reticles as the LR reticle is a bit wonky. Go with the duplex.

The Gun Dealer is showing two in stock.

If you can find a muzzle loader or shotgun specific scope that might be nice, the slug gun scopes seem to have more specific reticles for a slug plus the big eye relief.

Leupold for a regular scope would be my choice, something like their 2-7x33 Freedom. Has a generous eye relief. Been looking for something like this for a heavy recoiling rifle and vortex is leading the pack on eye relief.

I have a Nikon slug hunter 2-7x32 with a bdc reticle, nice compact scope, it’s currently on a .308 even though it’s got a fixed 75m parallax. Haven’t had any problems with shooting out to 200-250m, if parallax is a concern for future use stick to a low power like the Leupold.

Burris fullfield E1 3-9x40 is another shotgun scope option. I put one on a BP gun last year. Good glass, eye relief and nice audible clicks. One thing to check is the mag ring adjustment, mine is stiff as hell. They were selling for $350 last year.

Redfields Multi-X I prefer over the same in Leupold.
The inner + is slightly wider before the outer joins up.

I have a redfield 4x32 fine target dot optic on my turkey rig. Gge grackle head purple matched the receiver of my 535ats. Works great.
If I were to scope my 1301 comp it would likely be a bushnell elite 4500 1-4x20
