help me decide on a shotgun for IPSC

looks like im liking the modified division. i guess i will wait until FOC gets some more of the tac-ord versa max so i can fondle it at the store to decide.

Man up and get Standard!
Not many people shooting Modified - you will challenge yourself more in Standard or Standard Manual.

I don’t have the gun yet but I plan on getting a SuperNova with an extended tube. I see the difference in splits between a pump and semi as negligible compared to the time it takes to load, so the extra capacity definitely makes a difference. Of course this would all be different if we weren’t in Canada.

standard division would basically be any factory-made (at least 500 units) semi-auto? like a beretta 1301 comp?

B.........e..........n..........e.......l...........l.........i!!!!!

i considered the m2 but i cant justify the additional cost when i will only be shooting a shotgun match maybe once a year. ive never been a big shotgun guy (i prefer pistols) but ive always wanted to add a semi to my collection so i figured i may as well get one that i could use for ipsc.

once tried a Shotgun match, you will learn to Love it, ,more fun than pistol, but same same with rifles.LOL

Then get a Stoeger M3000 as pauls said

Some may see this as a poor recommendation, but I use a highly polished internals Canuck Sentry. Bought it cheap to try out and I have literally beat the living hell out of it. It competes.

" is that the correct choke for my purpose? "

You'll want a full set of chokes for IPSC shotgun.
People change them often during a match.

Type of targets, size of targets, and distance to targets is different on every stage.

i bought the 1301 comp today and it came with an IC choke. is that the correct choke for my purpose? or do i need a tighter choke? <insert Jian Ghomeshi joke here>

You'll want multiple chokes. C, Ic, mod, I m, f and maybe a diffusion would cover all the bases. Pattern all of them at various distances, I suggest 5 to 25 in 5 yard increments and also figure out what steel you can knock down at those distances with what choke. And maybe do the same with buckshot if they're going to implement it heavy in canada as well.
