Help me decide please :)

OK thanks all for your replies. I really appreciate.

I DID COMMIT TODAY by buying a beautiful Smith and Wesson 1911 E series in .45 acp. That will be soooooo fun :)

Thanks

Gilbert

@ Gilbert,w:h: Oh buddy...careful, before you know it you'll be rationalizing with yourself as to why the E series "needs" company!? Ask me how I know (14 handguns later), and I'm not nearly as inflicted with gunnuttitis as most here:rolleyes:.

Are you going to make Ganderite's Winona shoot this year?

I know this handgun buying thing is contagious. Oh and for those who asked I got the regular stainless E-series.

Outside the box, but if you want a different experience, get something that is actually different, like a 357 revolver.

My first thought was also that revolvers were lame and tacky, but the more I thought about it, the more I thought it would be cool to have one just to have something different than getting multiple semi-autos.

You can always shoot dirt cheap 38 ammo through it, too.

Edit: Nevermind, I see you already chose a 45. You can always upgrade to the super-manly 10mm one day!

Anything in 45 ACP will be fun !!! I have 3 of them in different confirgurations as I couldn't decide what I wanted...... my wife is VERY understanding. Then I realised that I didn't have all the available calibers. My wife unfortunately is one ,,, or maybe 2 steps ahead of me and has realised that I am missing some crutial items from my collection, she has promised me if she hasn't killed me in the next year for blowing the budget I can have one more gun as long as she gets to fire the first shot!! Unfortunately I taught her how to shoot and she was an extremely astute student..... (oh yah... don't tell my wife I was on here!!!)

I already have a Smith and Wesson 686. The 9mm I mentioned is not my only handgun and I do appreciate revolvers as much as semi-autos. But I did not have a 1911 nor a .45 so having one will be a ball :)

I am supposed to get it in a few days so I will let you know how it does...

For me 45's mean 1911's. As far as the "45 experience", there really is not much of one for me. The 45 is not much more of a kicker especially in comparison to 357. I have a brood of 45's ( All 1911's... and a SAA 45colt ) but I find that shooting 9mm is far more cost effective. I never felt that 45acp kicked much more or gave me an additional thrill. This is not an opinion of stopping power.

on the other hand there's nothing quite like the flash, concussion and recoil from a Smith 629 (.44mag) that definately is a step up from the 9mm...

OPer, Love to hear about your e-series, my 629 needs a buddy and i've been stockpiling .45acp brass and ammo for a few years now... thinking like it's time for a 1911...
