Help me decide Ruger sr1911 vs Sig-sauer 1911 Nitro

I'm looking at can-am for either

the Ruger sr1911+1000 rounds of ammo combo (cost 999.99)

OR

The Sig Sauer 1911 Black Nitro (COST 1129.99)

Which would you choose and why?

I love Sig but for the price I don't think you can go wrong with the Ruger. I have one and its great. The trigger assembly rattles a little bit but it functions flawlessly. And it a very sharp looking 1911.

Good luck either way.

buy the ruger and the ammo. the sig is the better pistol, but not 350+ better. Plus, you'll get better with 1000 rounds of practice, and still have money in pocket for more ammo

ruger: shot a buddy's ruger and it was very nice with a good trigger. plus its full stainless

I went ahead and ordered the Ruger I've only read good reviews on it. The Sig has the name behind it but the only review i could find on it said it's external extractor was a jam fest. The review was written by a sig fanboy too so seems like the ruger is more reliable and at a much better price point!

It'll be my first handgun as i just finally got my restricted license, so excited I can't wait to get my hands on it!

I've never shot the Ruger. I shoot a SIG Scorpion 1911 and I love it. The trigger feel and the grip feel is exactly right for me. I don't have a lot of experience with others though so bear that in mind. Still, given the choice, I would buy the SIG. I also like the look of the SIG more.

Leaving price aside, I would have gone with the Ruger. Build quality is similar but the Ruger has fewer proprietary parts and holsters etc.

Given the price differential...

On the two choices....

Ruger SR1911 with the IK ammo all day long.

The Sig is a lovely pistol but priced 3-4 hundred more than it outta be. As you're just paying extra to have "Sig" on the stamped on it.

And personally, I can't stand external extractors on 1911's.
