Should I get the 552 model or should I get the XPS3-0? What are the advantages and disadvantages? I will be putting it on an NEA 15. I already have mbus2 on order.

Personally I would go for the XPS2.

Reason being I don't have access to night vision, so don't need the 3; and the transverse battery case seems to have fewer issues than the longitudinal ones.

Granted it's been pointed out to me that batteries THEMSELVES aren't designed to handle transverse shock, but still...I hear fewer complaints about the XPS models than the old battery pistons.

That being said I had a 551 that saw a lot of 7.62 and it never gave me a single problem. Of course the N-cells are lighter batteries.

There both great sights

If your going to mount a backup sight and magnifier then go for the XPS3

If your not going the use a manifier ever, go with the 551 "552 has the usless NV setting, not even the military use's the NV setting lol"

I currently have a 3-2, had a 511 before
Will not go back, longer battery life, way stronger designed battery compartment, and a smaller optic. Plus, it is higher mounted that then500 series for co-witness with BUIS

I concur. Never even thought of it when it mattered. I was usually trying to turn the stupid thing back on after the power timed out. More offer than not, the window was used as a big peep sight.
For civilian use, the Eotechs are good. You can always turn the reticle back on. For a work gun, Aimpoint T1 is the shizzle.
But, what do I know....
YMMV

I just got an XPS2-2. This is the reticle:

It is designed for the AR15 platform. The center dot will be 100 yards and the lower dot 200. You can also mount an Eotech magnifier behind it for longer distance shooting.

They are a very nice sight and the problems are mostly internet hearsay...

Wolverine and The Shooting Edge sell them at the best price I've seen in Canada.

Agreed. I owned the XPS3-2 which is the same model, only compatible with NV. I loved it, but sold it only because I hate battery dependent sights (Trijicon ACOG and RMRs all the way baby).

That lower aiming dot is also very close to the point of impact at 35 yards when the upper dot is zeroed at 100. This gives you very precise aiming at ranges from 35-200 yards. The big circle is great for fast close shooting.

Awesome optic.

I got the 552 because it uses easy to find AA batteries, have uesd for a few years with no trouble, looking to replace it with a XPS,just cause its smaller.

Both are good, I think the XPS might have longer batterie life...and its smaller.
But AA batteries for the 552 would be easier to find and cheeper and a 552 could most likey be found on the EE for a good price.

Thank you guys! For now I will run my mbus until I have a little more experience and can tell exactly what I want out of my rifle. If I do decide to get an eotech I will be going for the XPS2-2. Thanks for your help! I appreciate it. Happy new year! :)

I've had an XPS 3-2 for a couple of years - and used one overseas for over 7 months in a role that saw it get abused and kicked around. It's a good optic.

The NV setting is fine, if you mount the PVS-14 behind it on the rail.

DSiwy, speak for yourself.... I have used the NV setting on operations more than once. It did its purpose well. I like the 552 most simply because of the commonly available AA battery.

I'd say move on to an Aimpoint T-1 Micro. Better sight in my opinion. Take a look at the beating it takes in the Daniel Defense M-4 demonstration video...
