Hi everyone,

I'm deciding on a good 1911 production model. What's the "best" value for money (about $1300 total)?
Not for competition use. Would prefer Government model dimension, single action, and single-stacked. Finish, non-stainless. Obviously, in 45 Auto.

I've considered an STI Trojan and a Para SSP. Should I consider others, and why?

Thanks for your input.

Hi there,

I don't know about the Para since I have the STI Spartan and WOW  the tight fit and great accuracy from this gun is amazing.

The first 200 round it use to jam after 25~30 round because of powder fouling (I reload and the powder I have does not burn clean) but afterward the slide to frame got settle-in and since then zero misfeed.

The STI Spartan does not have any options whatsoever but it come very well equipped and is also less expensive so I find it is a good value for my money :D (got mine stock from Gunnar and very happy with the service and the gun).

Your choice :50cal:

I ahve a SW1911 ( Smith & Wesson ). For the couple of times I first shot it couldn't hit target then a guy told me to lock my shoulder in by pulling it straight back and keep practicing works great with my 45.

Im a huge 1911 Fan. I agree with Dan, you absolutly can't go wrong with a Norinco Government 1911. If you dont alread own one, I would say get it. IF you already have one then for 1300 I would go STI ( just got a Ranger II myself) Dlask, Kimber or Springfield Armory. Basicly, any one of those companies make a fine 1911, maybe even too fine in which case the pistol looks so good your too scared to use it which brings me back to Norinco :D. High quality frame, extremely easy to upgrade and make it just as good as any other high end 1911. Hell, get 2 Norinco 1911's and make yourself a pair of identical twin custom 1911!!! Best idea ever!

So many choices in your price range...

On the "Colt Forum" the guys there are claiming that the current Colt production of their 1911's are pretty good.
The Kimber 1911 comes to mind. Springfield Armoury make a decent 1911 too. If you look hard enough, you might a find a Colt Series 70 Gold Cup National Match for your kind of money.

Heard nothing but good things about the STI Trojan so far, for the price and what you get can't go wrong and leaves you quite a bit of money from what you are budgeting for extra mags and upgrades, it's a tried and true system though so I don't think you can really go wrong with any of the companies listed. Its the hot rod of guns if something doesn't fit you right there is a load of aftermarket parts you can get to make it your own.

I've owned a Norinco and you get what you pay for. A decent tough gun but also used to have a Trojan and the accuraty and tighness is not in the same league.I reluctedly slod my Trojan to buy another STI. The only drawback from the Trojan in my opinion is the bluing which is weak. If you can get Gunnar from Armco to prep your gun, you won't regret it !

That's my two cents...

Blueing woes.

The blueing is very weak but they are good guns, you could always order the frame in hard chrome. Or you could buy a Kimber from here.
