Here's the deal guys, it's my first time on this land and it already has some preinstalled caches and stands. My question to you is, from what you see below, what is the best spot to hunt from? Wind should be coming from the West. The brown stuff is maple while the green is pine trees

could be interesting:popCorn:

I would take the blind at the top. I don't like tree stands. The shack thing looks pretty interesting, but I see it's a much longer walk from the road! The blind at the top is nearest to a farm house or something and that's where the deer feel safer from predators. Your best luck will be there.

Actually, south east of the two stands, next to the road, there are two farmhouses one with a pond, we saw quite a few tracks in the mud yesterday.

yep, there are your attractants, I'd hunt there if I was you and have good feet to walk there. I have chite for feet for the rest of my life! I have to resort to road hunting! Please forgive me, but I gotta eat, too!

Food -water- shelter- or trail
the closer you are to all 4 the better
other wise all you get is deer passing through

I agree...percentage wise you are better off knowing where they are, or going to. If you don't, you may be waiting a long time for something to come along.
With that being said, I would (setup) look for some transition between the maple-woods and the cedars.... What is their main food source?

This.... on both of my properties, the best trails can always be found along the edge of transition from Cedar to hardwood...

assuming land use has not changed...go where the most "work" has been put in. People tend to know where the deer are before they invest a lot of effort in really nice blinds or stands. If the deer were there, and no land use change has occurred, that's a good bet to try. Obviously, as you hunt the property and spend time there over the years, you'll figure out what works. For an AM hunt on new land, go to the easiest place to get to (least mucking about in the dark), you can walk in father for a PM hunt.
