there is a different model for the hollow stock which allows for it.

Meant to drain water, also vents gas. Won't affect function if it's covered.

Look closely at the picture. The base is thicker at the first four rails, where it contacts the stock. The rest is a cantilever and does not block the vent hole, and if I recall correctly, has a "trench" running along the side close to the stock to better allow the gas to flow out.

Ordered the one from versapod shipping to Canada is no problem, its a bit cheaper than treeline.

Yes you are correct. The hole in the stock is only to allow water to drain. Covering it wont affect operation at all.

I'm also curious whether treeline will ship this, I'd like to get my innocent hands on one of these as well, and maybe a small rail for the front left side.

Treeline ships to Canada. It will usually say in the description if you cant have a certain part shipped here. Randy is quick on the email responses too

Try Wolverine who have GG&G Extreme Duty Bipod Adapter for the M14/M1A which is quite a bit cheaper at $45 compared to the Sadlok part and might be suitable depending upon what you want to use it for. The Sadlok would be better if you want to use a weapon light. I have also found Treeline very good to deal with.

this is similar, and canadian. apparently only fits the m305 but i don't see that being too big an issue for some

FYI, these do not fit anything but Norinco and/or Poly stocks. If you have a USGI or Springfield stock, no worky. The screw holes are in different places. I know, I tried.
