I just bought a Savage PC .223 carbine and now I need to put some glass on it. I'll be shooting paper and want to try to push it to 500-600yds. I'm not interested in knock-offs or super cheap scopes. But open to all suggestions.

Thanks in advance.

Since you're in london, not too far from US, Dicks Sporting goods has leupold 4.5-14x40 scopes for $509, just bought one. Compare to cabelas.ca and you'll see how good the deal is.

I have always been a fan of the bushnell Elite series. They work well in all conditions and weather...they are not cheap...but for the $ they do compare very well to some of the more expensive scopes in their range. The Nikon scopes are another good bang for your buck.

Just be aware of the US regulations dealing with the export of rifle scopes from the US.You need a permit from the US authorities to do things legally.

the most important question.... what is your budget?
I have a 4-14 power mag on my 30.06 which work brilliantly, its a Tru-glo milspec from opsgear salt lake city and I got it for $200, if money is no object, go nuts :)

Bushnell 3200 Mildot reticle 5-15x40 AO with Tactical turrets, costs around $450.00. You will be able to find your adjustments for different distance and be able to repeat them.

If you're not in a big hurry...

Word is Bushnell is discontinuing their 3200 and 4200 Elite line of scopes, something new coming down the pipe.

I just read on 24hourcampfire that Natchez in the US already has whacked their pricing on Elites.

This is just speculation, but could be some darn good deals coming very soon on these soon as dealers look to clean out inventories, probably with help from Bushnell.

That happens, if you can snag an Elite 4200 4x16x40 AO, or 6x24x40, you'd have yourself one helluva fine optic for your rifle!

I like the Vortex. Good quality scope for the money you pay,and a no BS warranty. Even if you drop the thing it's covered.

Burris makes good glass for much less than many others. Just based on the feedback from the owners, you can't go wrong with Vortex either. I am eyeing the Burris because I have their signature sellect binos and they have been thru the crap with no problems. I gave them to one of my kids friend's, after scratching a lens, then bought another pair. Nikon also makes a nice product for the money, although I am not a big fan of their little ballistcs circles, the glass on mine is very good, and the scope is very rugged.

Try the Minox ZA-5 on sale at Cabelas for $399. I just bought one for my Rem 700 Varmint SF in 22-250. The scope is 3-15x42. I was lucky enought to order it before it went on back order. The reviews seem very good.

:sniper: Forget the cheap crappy Bushnell line up and go with the Nikon brand for the same kind of money... Check out their Buckmaster series in either the 4.5-14x40 or the 6-18x40 they all have side focus along with a fast eye focus......just my 0.02 worth................TBG:canadaFlag:

Bushnell 4200 6-24. Best scope I've seen for that money. I compared it to Leupold's and Nikon's and it definitely outperformed them.

Thanks for all the input guys. I almost bought a vortex but realized that there is one more thing I want in a scope and the Vortex didn't have it. I would like turrets that adjust the poa. Not caps on the turrets that come off and the adjustment is underneath.

Any more suggestions?
