I have been interested in the 6.5x55 caliber for a while now, and a new gun isn't easy to find in that caliber at a reasonable price, so i started looking for a swede to try out. Long story short i found one that already had holes drilled and tapped for a scope mount so i don't need to bubba anything that shouldn't be bubba'd, but i'm kind of confused by the holes.

There are three holes drilled, which would lead me to believe it would fit one of the redfield one piece mount like this one, w ww.midwayusa.com/product/474732/redfield-1-piece-standard-scope-base-mauser-96-gloss?cm_vc=ProductFinding

The problem is that it has two holes on the rear end, and only 1 hole at the front end, but that configuration would put the mount backwards with the screws at the front and the dovetail at the back, which is opposite to the way i have seen these mounts used before. I also doubt the shape and size is the same front to back, so i assume it wouldn't sit right and throw the scope off in a big way.

If anyone has any idea what i should look for in a mount that would fit it, any help would be appreciated.

Finally got some pictures uploaded down below.

The swede rifle you have is not drilled & tapped (d/t) for any regular scope mount. The WEAVER two piece mount is used on MAUSER 96 actions and it would require an additional hole to be D&T at front.
You would have to check the spacing of the holes in rear to see if that is correct. If you haven't done this work take it to a gunsmith.

Once again, a picture is worth a thousand words.

Many European scope mounts are side mounted on the left side of the receiver, using three screws. Is this rifle drilled like that, or is the screw holes on the top of the receiver?

After handling many of these Swedish Mausers, I think he is talking about a Swedish Bubba scope mounting job were the back bridge has 2 holes and the front receiver bridge has only one. As is common on a lot of these imported second hand Swedish Mausers that have scope mount holes that do not line up well or match the standard Weaver mounts hole spacings. Sometimes when you take off the existing one or two piece Weaver mounts they have other holes underneath from God knows what previous mounts.

That's exactly what i have mkrnel, two holes on the back bridge and one on the front, all on the top, nothing on the side. I'll try to get some pics tonight.

I finally got a chance to get a few pictures, hopefully someone will recognise the spacing to help me out.

Your rear bridge hole spacing looks standard weaver and I have seen one piece Weaver mounts with only 3 screws but can not tell you what they were originally designed for, the Weaver Mauser M93-6 once piece mount is 4 holes (2x rear & 2x front). Maybe you should just buy the standard Weaver 2 piece mounts and get the front holes drilled and tapped and then you will be good to go. That front hole should be a bit further back anyhow as it is best to have the screw go into the centre of the mass behind the locking lug recess, yours appears right in the middle and if you have a gas leakage from a ruptured primer or cartridge you risk it blowing out as the receiver metal is thin there with only a few screw threads holding and you will not get as good a mount hold either, just red Locktite the filler screw in before covering it up with the new mount.

Probably somthing like an offset one piece to clear the rear bridge hump. You have to measure hole spacing to have an idea of what it was for. A custom made base (from blank) may be required.
