hey all

Looking to buy a holster for my norinco 1911 govt - I have no clue what to buy

I do know I'd like something with retention, polymer and paddle style.

So far I've found the Fobus roto paddle matches what I think I need.

Any suggestion on what to look for or what to stay away from would be much appreciated!

Raven Concealment, Bladetech and, as skoal says, Solely Canadian. Skoal and I seem to show up on the same threads when holsters are mentioned. Can't hide good taste!
Bladetech would be the cheapest but SolCan is custom made for your exact gun, the exact way you want it!

I played with a bunch of Fobus holsters at SHOT and talked in depth with the rep. I think the original Fobus Kydex holster is fine, not great, just fine. Their later stuff got more and more complicated and clumsy IMHO. Kinda of a solution to a nonexistent problem type issue. There are obviously people who like them, namely the Israeli Military and some US PDs and they are relatively inexpensive but I think there are better holsters out there.
if you want to try something other than what's already mentioned, look at Safariland. They have some good holsters out there.
I have never seen or used a G Code so can't comment on that brand.

Friends don't let friends buy Fobus.

Solely Canadian would be my first choice. A bunch of different mounting options, different colours and, as stated, Tim will work with you to make sure you get the holster that you want.
