Help me ID this ammo box please

Hey folks, got this nifty wooden ammo box a while ago and allways wondered who the hell made it and for what war if any? I,m guessing its Aussie?

Any idea what this thing is?

British Radley Green Arsenal, probably late 50's early 60's issue. 9mm ammo box.

They used the same box loaded with 288 rounds of .303, packed in 32-round standup boxes.

Don't see a lot of these around these days.

can you confirm a date by chance, is it 50's and 60's as originally sugested?

looks like Feb 10, 1958, or Oct 2, '58

Just a guess though...

Packed on the 2nd October 1958 (the date isn't to be read like American dates which would make it Feb).
