Help me ID this shell please

A friend of mine found this shell at his family cabin in the woods.

It's about the size of a .357 magnum, with a slight taper. The headstamp reads D/|\C '2 C VI 05

From what I could find the D/|\C headstamp was used by the Dominion Cartridge company in Québec City around 1900. The broad arrow make me think it's surplus.

Does anyone know what this is?

.303" British MkVI made Dec 1905 at Dominion Arsenal Quebec. D^C is Canadian property stamp. C for cordite loaded.
Very corroded to point neck has seperated.
