Hey guys...a little help:
Any idea what this bayonet this frog is for? Looks like the mfg was in Quebec. Any idea what it is worth...I picked it up with a number of other items.

Thanks!!

I'm going to hazard a guess and say, based on the condition of the leather, that it may be a bayonet frog made for the Ross rifle and/or Long branch Enfields for WW1 service ?

Not sure which bayonet its for, but its definately from the 1800's.

The oliver pattern frog is the only CDN made leather frog made in the 1900's. I can say for sure that its not a Ross frog, or for a 1903/1907 bayonet, and definately not from WWI or later.

I would hazard a guess that its for the 1860 sword bayonet - it looks too big for the 1888 bayonet, but thats possible.

Looks close to the frog for the P1856/1860 Enfield sword bt but they had a buckle not a stud secureing arrangement.
My guess it is a locally made frog for a volunteer unit probably on rifle lines since it is black.
QHG Quebec Home Guard?

Quebec Home Guard use Mauser 71/84 rifles at one time:

Yes I have seen Mauser 71/84 and also Martini-Henry MKIII rifles marked to the QHG (Quebec Home Guard)

Thanks for the feedback guys...

any idea on what it may be worth to someone? Are there Quebec Home Guard collector folks out there? This is a little older than my collecting interests.

I checked in my bayonet guide + in frog section the author has the same one as yours + it's dated for 1914.It would have been used with British P1888 or Canadian P1893 bayonets. The book is just a reference not a price guide so no help there.Check ebay or dealer sites to try to find price range.
