Between the 2 the glass is ok, I like the higher mag of the 6-25 millette but it's just massive, on the other hand the vortex 4.5-16x50 doesn't look like a car mounted to my gun.

I don't care much about low light shooting. It'll be on a .300 win mag and I shoot quite alot so it must withstand recoil and track well. Those are my main worries. Input please.....commence now..

Put the 6-20 Viper on the gun or a Viper HS in 4-16. Probably a few more bucks than the Millett you are looking at, but you get what you pay for in the end and you will be way more satisfied.

Well I'm just boggled. To add complication the 2 stores that have one of each left were nice enough to hold them until I decide. Like I said the millette is so bulky and I do question it's quality, aparently they are hit or miss.

The vortex set aside is the viper pst 4-16x50 but it has the bdc reticle.
On vortex's website they don't list PST with bdc, only milrad or moa. The bdc is in the hs line. I don't really want the bdc but it's all they have until they don't know when.

I have the patience of a squirrel.

The PST scopes have a reticle that slightly resembles the BDC, but it is more of a tactical reticle meant for estimating range and hold over for shots beyond your zero distance. Depending on what you are doing you might prefer one over the other. I have both, they both work well for their intended purposes.

Well I just called in again. There was some confusion, the demo I looked through is not the model I'm getting, and between the 2 guys this morning reading 2 different boxes. Lol. It is in fact pst mrad. Perfect.

No, I think everything is all good, between my own confusion, and 2 employees lookin at 2 boxes. It has been positively confirmed 4-16x50 pst milrad. I'm quite stroked.

My Savage .223 wears a Millett TRS-1 and I couldn't be happier with it so far.

It's a big scope, but very bright/clear glass and a really fine reticle~good for the varmint hunting it does/small targets, etc. The upper-end Vortex stuff I've seen and superb glass, but a fair bit of extra $ required.

I've been lurking around for a while looking at all these scopes, and to me, you're gambling a little bit with Vortex and Millet. They are Phillipino/Chinese products and there is a thread here, and some on Sniper's Hide and other sites, where both of these brands seem to have a lot of faults.

If you're looking at the Vortex, you can get a Sightron for a couple hundred more, and I've seen VERY LITTLE negative about them. They seem like the absolute best optics at the $800-$1000 price point.

And I don't know about you, but I'm the type of person that if something has a chance to screw up, it screws up. So, I'd rather spend the extra couple hundred $$ on a solid Japanese optic than buy a Vortex and have it broken and Dead on Arrival, which could happen. It could happen with any scope, but that other thread has quite a few people saying they've had bad experiences. Those bad experiences are covered up and "made right" by great customer service, but, IMO, the BEST customer service is the customer service you don't need.
