I've owned a set of medium height Burris Signature Zee 1" rings in matte finish for a couple of years now and I really like them. The problem is that I want to buy the same thing only in a high mount.

The difference between Burris Signature Zee rings and Burris Plain Zee rings appears to be that the signature series uses the Pos-Align inserts. OK, I definately do not want the plain zee rings. Easy peasy. :)

Whoa! Not so fast. RussellSports lists "Pos-Align Standard rings" and "Pos-Align Zee rings", but nowhere does it list the elusive Burris "Signature Zee rings" of yesteryear. To make matters worse, the "Pos-Align Zee rings" only come in medium height.

Any chance that Pos-Align Standard rings are the new name for what used to be known as the Signature Zee rings? If Burris didn't make such a good product, I wouldn't even bother trying to decode their stupid naming convention.

Any Burris experts out there?

You are on the right track. The Standard rings are for the turn in style ie Redfield/Leupold.

The Zee style are for Weaver/pic bases. This is the style I use. They come in High.

So you are looking for a set of HIGH Burris Signature/pos align Zee rings.

I believe Zee refers to the machining of the base of the ring to make it a single piece that clamps down on the rail. Now they even throw the word Custom into the name of the rings as well, as in Burris Signature Custom Zee rings, and those have the inserts.

Thanks Jerry! It seems pretty obvious in the catalog now that you've explained it for me.

It even explains the difference in the text.

I tried ordering a high mount Pos-Align Zee ring online from WholesaleSports and they phoned me back saying that Burris no longer makes them. The Russell catalog seems to back that up. I've sent Burris an email asking for clarification.

I got a reply back from Burris. They are still making "Signature Zee rings", but they are currently out of stock and will not be available until the end of May.

Burris Custom Signature Pos-Align Zee Rings. Good grief what a mouthful. I wonder when they will get around to adding "extra strength high performance" onto that moniker.
