Pulled this oldtimer from back of safe. Gun was built for my wifes grandfather in 50s by a smith Alton Gibson from Rupert Que 20 miles north of Ottawa.
He was a lumberman and hunter he shot over 30+ deer a year,in the 30's and sold them $15 to $25 it was allowed to sell deer in Quebec. he use to hunt with a Model 5 Ross then had this one made by Gibson. The last time I shot this gun 30 years ago,I was able to keep all 5 shots in the 2" white of a 6" black target using Winchester Super X 180gr spire points.
I was told its a Lee-Metford BSA ?
stock has vey fine checkering.
barrel is 22"
5 shot clip.
bore is spottless, rifling very sharp.
Serial # 2022x on action and two places on bolt all matching #
BSA marked on action.
