Help me pick a barrel length for my upcoming AR

My last build was a 11.5 and the 100y results were not that great. Thats why I got the 14.5 for this build.

I may be stating the obvious....
Barrel length has little to do with it. It really depends on the quality of barrel blank used and the work done to complete it as a bolt on AR barrel.

If accuracy is important to you, invest in a quality barrel.

I have had 20" 16" and now 14.5. a good shooting friend of mine has a 7.5. The shorter you go the louder and more blast you get. His 7.5 nearly rattles the fillings out of my head. When you go below 16" you sometimes need to start playing the balancing game between buffer, spring, and port size to get reliability. I have seen people have trouble even with 14.5 though I have none myself. My recomendation after owning ar15's nearly 30 years is 16. BTW if you ever head state side it needs to be at least 16.

I would evaluate whether or not you may plan to go to the US with your firearms as I do. It all depends on your preferences and activities but you can hunt in the US with an AR. There are also competitions everywhere if that interests you. You would not be able to take a sub 16 inch rifle into the US without an ungodly amount of fuss. I'm not even sure if a non citizen could get the appropriate "stamp" for an SBR.

Ooopssss just saw an earlier post.
