I do my shooting from a bench mostly. What harris bipod should I be looking at? There are so many sizes really. Can someone help me out in figuring what would be a good fit for me?
I think you might have to figure out at what height you are most comfortable shooting your gun at and buy the right bipod to match the height. The variable is the seat height to bench height, lower seat higher bench, means you will need a shorter bipod, higher seat lower bench means you will need a higher bipod. No way of knowing which one you need from afar. A yard stick at the range will help you out a tone.
I use a Harris HBRS 6"-9" bipod on my Win. Wildcat ( Bench Rest Swivel) works great shooting off the bench and I suggest you get the S model , it's practical when shooting on uneven surfaces

IMO some rifles just don't look right with a bi-pod. That's why I prefer using "sandbags" or even my ammo box in a pinch.
That being said...I've alway used a Harris 6-9"BR model (off the bench) and found I never had to raise either leg from the 6" position other then to the level the rifle.
I actually use my front rest with bag more often then the bipod but mostly with a semi-auto 22 I get better groups that way because there is always some rearward movement with a SA and the bipod kind of jumps a little, with the rifle on the front bag ,it slids back..anyway that's I have experienced with my T/C R-55 Benchmark

I do better of a bench with a bipod, and it's what I use in the field hunting anyway. The ranges I've shot at though~you see bags mostly. To your question, I use non-swiveling Harris 9-13". There is enough give in these to allow you to turn the rifle a little both ways. I own 2 of them, one has legs that slide out and you use a knob to tighten them at exactly the height you want. Probably the best bench one. The other has notches in the legs about 3/4" apart for you to adjust height.
Harris is the way to go just have to determine right height, 6-9 works best in most cases. Harris is best for bench, not the best for hunting as they can be twangy giving away your position.
And make sure it is a Harris.
When I sent two of mine in for refurbishing, the lady advised to make certain they are Harris. The pay return shipping on their product. Perhaps the rest are garbage.
I am interested in adding a bipod to a few of my rifles and have never used one other than the the old FNC2 .. lol..found this video and he recommends the notched leg version .
It appears to be easier to set up than the smooth leg version .
The combination of swivel bipod and notched legs make sens but with
the conventional bipod I prefer the infinite adjustment possibility of the
non-notched legs to level the rifle.
When shooting from the bench I have spare time to ajust level.
In the field (mainly on my center fire) I use a swivel bipode for instant
leveling of the rifle.
