So I recently took apart my cz712 to look it over and give it a wipe down (me and my buddies were talking about goose season). When I noticed a Crack in the bolt and the action bar. So I'm getting a new semi!!!! I have gone through 3 shotguns in 3 years so I'm gonna try and find a good price, high value shotgun for goose and ducks as well as skeet shooting and ocasional 3 gun. I would prefer not to have to change anything to the gun to shoot different loads.

My budget is right around 1000. So far I have found:
Winchester sx3/4
Remington v3
Barrett a300
Franchi affinity

UPDATE!!!!!I BOUGHT A FRANCHI INTENSITY in max 4 camo.
Hit a snag with my car so went with a more cost affective option. But it comes with a 7 year mechanical warranty which is awesome. Haha really wanted a sbe3 but I can get alot of use out of this gun and save for more decoys!!!! I will post pictures and review when I get out next weekend or the weekend after!!!

Get a gun that fits you well. Lots of options around $1000. But to buy a gun based on brand or looks isnt wise. The gun that fits you best is the gun you shoot best

Choose a gun that fits you. The SX-3 fits me, and has proven to be very reliable.

No matter how long this thread continues or which direction it goes. This is all the info needed at the end of the day.

We'll probably digress into a back and forth over rem vs Winchester vs browning etc, 3.5 vs 3", modb vs adv max 5 and on and on. But if it don't fit, you won't hit and you'll think it's ####. :)

Of the choices you listed the SX3 would be my pick but that's just me? I am sure you could make it fit with the provided shim kit unless you are really of a different build? As for accuracy? Never heard of the term used in shotgunning...that's rifle country. In shotgun terminology "accuracy" is described as proper fit which = makes it hit where you're looking.

My Beretta killed a lot of geese with federal 3' t shot. AL 309 Beretta has a self compensating gas system. So 3" magnums one day and powder puff trap shells the next day and no issues.

OK so sounds like I just have to handle as many different shotguns as i can and see what's right. Thanks for the input, but has anyone had any reliability issues with any of the guns mentioned in my original post? Also, I saw the A5 has a 100,000 rou d grantee which sounds very impressive but last I checked was just a little our of my price range.

I never owned an SX3 but have had the Browning Silver which is all the exact same internals and gas system just wrapped in a different exterior(Browning owns & makes Winchester) and I never had a single issue with my silver. I even purposely shot it for one year without anything but an external wipe down to see how many rounds it would go without failing. I put 1500 rounds down the pipe on the skeet field, another flat and half shooting pigeons and an entire waterfowl season shooting everything from 2 3/4" steel loads to 3.5" steel loads so over 2000 rds and never had a hiccup and finally just cleaned it. I figured if it could go that many rounds in every weather condition shooting everything right down to 2 3/4 dram target loads without a hiccup then I had a winner.

I would like to hear your opinions on reliability, accuracy and any issues you may have had with any of the above. This is the highest I can go on price as I have many other responsibilities that come before a new goose gun. Thanx for the input.

Handle as many as you can, and consider buying used. I'd add the Browning Silver, Maxus, A5, Auto5 and Gold as well as any other shotgun that interests you. Then after handling a few I'd post a WTB or troll the EE and look to local used gun sources.

Buy what fits.
I handled lots b4 I bought a Stoeger 3500 semi.
Came with shims to fine tune the stock and 4 chokes.
I had to disassemble it and polish the moving/ sliding parts to get it to feed the light trap loads.
It uses the benneli inertia system. My opinion is the higher end guns that use this system polish and fit the parts when new to make it able to cycle all loads.
Since then it's been flawless.
Hundreds of trap loads and a couple hundred field loads through it.
3 inch bb for the first two shots and a 3.5 inch bb for the final shot take a fair share of geese.

Jim 870- I'd prefer to buy new, had bad experiences with buying used shotguns. But definately looking at the browning now would have to wait for some kind of sale though. Looking forward to handling some awesome shotguns.
