Help me pick a gun...

+1 for the 870 Wingmaster. Mines gone from the swamps to the lakes to the beaver marshes to the hardwoods for deer, and it still works flawlessly.

Its a classic shotgun built to last a lifetime. The 870 Express or other "budget" shotguns, not so much.

For a grand, you can get both a Weatherby PA08 pump gun, and Weatherby SA08 semiauto. In nice wood, too.

I would recommend the Wingmaster, but there aren't many options for replacement barrels. Ithaca would be a good choice, but its a fixed barrel.

The Weatherby PA08 comes with a 26 or 28" barrel, but you can buy an 18.5" cylinder bore barrel. The stock/fore end is gorgeous walnut. The factory barrel comes with a few chokes and is chrome lined. its ridiculously easy to clean and maintain as well.

Their are just as many options for Wingmaster barrels as their are for Express barrels. If you change the mag cap ($10) a Wingmaster can accept Express barrels (it works, ive owned both and have done it)

But really, how many do you need? A field barrel and a slug barrel should do any hunter.

My wife had an Express when i met her; she bought a Wingmaster after using mine and has barely touched her Express since.
