So I am thinking about a new bolt action .22lr.I was thinking of a cz 452 varmint or a ruger 77/22 varmint.Looking for info and feed back on both.It will be used for small game as well as targets, out to 150yrds....hopefully:)

Any info would be helpful.
I already have a 10/22 so don`t suggest one,looking for bolt action.

Thanks:wave:

I don't own a CZ but you will soon have many people recommending one. But before you decide look at a Browning T-Bolt. A little pricey ($600.00) but the fit and finish is beautiful. Also very accurate to 100 meters.

Looking at the CZ Silhouette myself. However, I did notice that TC has a 1/2" @ 50 guarantee with their .22's and was wondering if anybody here knew of anyone else offering this guarantee?

ruger vs cz

I own both, and they each have their own attributes that make them great. The CZ is more accurate out of the box, but in my case, not by much. You already own a 10/22, so whatever mags you have for it will work in the 77/22. The Ruger has a much nicer 3 position safety, you can work the bolt in the middle position, I don't know of any other 22 bolt that has a 3 position safety. You can buy more aftermarket parts for the Ruger if you so desire. For hunting, I prefer the Ruger, but the CZ is more accurate at the range. Here is a pic of both in their modified form, the Ruger on the top. If you can, go and hold each one and then make your decision. Good luck and later.

Nice couple of guns you have there 10mark22  (is that a boydes stock on the CZ?)

Wilfred; I don't know of two many other manufactures that have a guaruntee of accuracy but I do know that CZ's will shoot 1/2" at 50 yards. Not a guaruntee from them but almost a given that they will shoot :)

I have found that for accuracy the Marlin rimfires are hard to beat for the money, both the CZ and the Ruger require trigger work to get good accuracy at 100 Yards. Savage with the accu trigger is also a great 22 with a trigger pull of 2.5 lbs.

Boyd's

Yes cz452shooter, they are both Boyd's stocks. The CZ JRS seems to be not available anymore, hasn't been on the website for a long time. Best 55 bucks I ever spent on a stock. It was designed for the regular barrel guns, not the Varmint, it took a lot of work to get it where it is. It only sports one action screw now, and it shoots much more consistently than it ever did. Thanks all for the kind words. Later.

The Ruger looks like a very nice rifle, but they are not cheap. I was just on the website because I started to think about the possibility of modding a 77/22 to go with my 10/22. That's if the trigger parts etc are easily available.

A CZ if it has to be new. I would sure look and a 541 remington that Eagleye has for sale: F/S 541T Remington 22 Pics you can see!! currently on page one.

Ya. I've heard that the CZ's will, but its always nice to hear it from the manufacturer (that they have a final quality control that is tangible and that they send with the firearm...ala Sako). I know it dosn't mean much; if a company realy wanted to fire a gun till it shot what ever group they wanted, they could, call it "fixed", and sell a crap gun to you, but I still think that it says something about TC's (and Sako's) confidence in its quality control.

I'll echo the comment on Savage 22's with Accutrigger - more cost effective and SUPER accurate out of the box. This saves $$$ for better optics. Fit and finish is very good+. The Mk II BV or BVTS are awesome options for 22's with heavy barrels!!! The 17's (HMR) are equally spectacular.....

Savage 22's should not be overlooked - they should be looked at FIRST!!!!

Good luck - SD

I was just handling one of these the other day and that straight pull bolt has to be one of the coolest things I've ever seen. Beautiful gun. And fast.
