Dont forget the other leftie friendly levers, the Savage 99 (my fave) and the Winchester 88. Never know what cal you will find one of them in. Luck leftie. Just remember the expression "left hande right minded" and any biology text will back that up. And for all of those leftie detractors just remember we are what we are (humans) cuz nature loves to experiment. Speaking of experiments, give a rightie a leftie bolt to play with so they know what fun it is for some of us to shoot rightie bolts. It aint natural I tell ya.
The BLR in 358 Win is the way to go. Stronger action in a lever. You can even get them in take-down models. I've wondered about the difference in metallurgy myself. Never heard anything bad about the newer ones though.
As for the righty using a lefty bolt gun. I know what you mean, totaly unnatural to say the least.
I'm not a big fan of the tube magazine, so I'd clearly pick the BLR. My BLR in .358 is my primary deer gun and my backup moose gun (to my 7600 in .35 Whelen). I own an older .35 Remington, but mine is on a Remington 760 pump gun - that way I can load pointed bullets.
Hey pitched link what store did you go to in Bashaw, maybe ill go check them out see if they have another in stock.
For all you 35 Whelen fans, thanks for the suggestions but as I said I have always want a 375 H&H and if I want something bigger than the 358 thats what Ill be looking for... Dogleg thats a whole other can of worms for different thread
Well fellas my next task is to track down a BLR/358 and see how it fits me. If anyone else has seen one in a gunshop (especially in AB) let me know.
Coolhandluke,
It is probably better to do it your way, if you buy the .375 first it gets real hard to justify anything else bigger than .30 cal. If I didn't live on the prairies my flat shooting cartridges would be endangered as well. What fun would that be?
