Help me pick a new rangefinder

I have used both products myself, but unlike you,I have nothing to gain by favoring one product over another product.;)

You assume a lot.....I've got absolutely nothing to gain posting anonymously on a messageboard other than to ellicit some cheap shots from someone that can't deal with an opinion that differs from his own. I respect your opinion.....I expect nothing but the same in return. I'd be keen to know where you "used" the Victory range finding bino though...not many of them in Canada....;) Makes for a good internet story though..............

I've actually owned and "used" both and am basing my opinion on that...but it's just an opinion...obviously yours differs from the experience you have "using" both.....good to have different opinons on a messageboard.....it's healthy. :)

Is it really anonymous when most people on this site and other sites are well aware of your identity?

What makes you think that I first saw them in Canada?I do travel to the USA and I first saw the Victory RF last fall before purchasing my Geovid HDs.As I said,I didn't buy the Zeiss unit, because with the Leica rebate, the price difference was about $1200 at the time.By the way Bashaw Sports has had the Victory RF in stock for a considerable time as well.I am a long time customer there, and Pud was kind enough to let me compare the Victory RF to my Geovid HDs.

I guess my idea of using and yours are a bit different but as I said....good to have different opinions on messageboards. I'll keep your definition of using in mind in future posts...sorry for the confusion...my bad.

Do you have to "own" a product to use it?Are the results of a side by side comparison not valid unless you own both products?

I posted my opinion, and you posted yours.I also posted a link to the opinions of several other people, but since their opinions differ from yours, you won't accept them as credible.Yet you expect the people of this forum to accept your opinion as the most credible opinion on the topic, even though your show is sponsored by the manufacturer of one of the products being compared.I like Zeiss products myself, but I don't have them as a sponsor,so I don't have any reason to promote their products above any other products.Since I don't have a sponsor to please,I post my opinion based solely on my own experiences with the product.

As for yourself,as I previously posted, many of us on this site know your true identity, and the identity of your television show, and your sponsors. How do you think it would look if you posted anything other than your sponsors product being superior to all others? What would your sponsors say if they found out that you favored another product over their own?Given that, how can the forum readers know if your opinion is genuine,or if it is simply an attempt to promote your sponsor's products?

It would look like my honest opinion.....I do it all the time. They actually appreciate the honesty.

In this case I just happen to believe it's the truth. Can we move on from this drivel now....this is the optics forum after all....not "As the Hunting World Turns"?...ugh.

Quite truthfully I was happy not to talk to you in this thread....but you just can't resist...regardless of the messageboard or user name can you?

And I thought it was you that had the obsession with anyone that posts something that you don't agree with.

thanks for the info guys....and the soap opera time out

I took a pair of the Bushnell 1600's out for a test spin and promptly returned them after a weekend in the field...they suck...good light gathering...poor focus in low light....the backlight for the RF on its highest setting is still too dim to see in mid day sunlight over a wheat field.

Good idea...poor excecution

My Geovids are ordered and on there way as we speak...what the hell

thanks again

I picked up a bushnell fusion 2 weeks ago and have hunted with them every morning and evening since. I really like them, good clarity [slightly better than my old legend binos] and decent rangefinding performance. I have no problems seeing the display on the high setting in bright sunlight. My only gripe is the size of the power button. Very small.
The 2 in 1 concept is pure win in my books.

Highy recommend buying a used pair of geovids, use them for the season, sell them for 150-200 less than what you paid. and then buy them for keeps when you can afford to, will be much cheaper than any other option suggested, really

OP, Good find, glad you went straight to them, you won't in the least bit ever regret it. Now if they just make a spotting scope with a RF in it.

I have my geovids now and love them

Cameraland has them for a great price too...8x42 for 1499.00

worth every penny

I think you'll be very happy going with a real pair of binos with a built in range finder rather than trying to make a rangefinder double as a bino. It might seem like a lot of cash now but 10 years from now you'll wonder how you ever did without them.

I can already see that my money was well spent....took them on my 5 day elk hunt and fell in love after the first day

thanks everyone for the advice and thanks to a couple of you for a few laughs as well LOL

you guys are awesome

Jamie, glad you learned from the older savvy chaps on the board who have been through the cheap stuff and now only buy the right stuff. It really pays and the best part is when you buy them right you can sell them and rarely ever lose if that dreadfull moment ever comes.
