Hey gents.... I'm tired of getting picked on by antis because I don't have any really short guns (well besides handguns). It's messing with my self esteem. Help me rectify this situation by helping me choose a new one! :)

Here's what I have in the line up, preference is given to stuff that can take 10rd mags, is compact, shoots cheap ammo (I'm Scottish), and ability to go NR as a bonus.
I'm not really looking at ARs for this as I already have a 10" and I'm looking for stuff that I don't have. The JR, Theuron and Sub2000 don't give me enough wood (a requirement for going in my safe, sorry) so I'm excluding them.
Oh and you can pick more than one.

This is what I'm looking at:

BRS99
Pro - both R and NR barrels avail, cheap 9mm
Con - pined to 5 mags only

Kriss Super V
Pro - Glock mags, looks awesome, I could wimp out and get it in NR.
Con - .45 ammo isn't cheap, picky on ammo

FAMAE
Pro - Looks super awesome, esp the MP5 stock, 9mm ammo
Con - pinned mags

H&K USC
Pro - NR converted available
Con - .45 ammo and pinned mags, Pricey

XCR Micro
Pro - AR mags FTW
Con - pushing price limit

Skorpion
Pro - Pretty tiny and cheap
Con - pinned mags, .32 acp means one more ammo to stock, no optic rail

CSA 7.5"
Pro - Cheap 7.62 surplus, hella cheap at $900ish, AR mag adaptable
Con - no optic rail

Other - If there's something I'm missing that would fit the bill, let me know!

I said CSA 7.5" for right now and there is an optic rail (not cheap) but ther still is one, but if you can get a skorpion then do it. Was blasting that off on the weekend and once you learn it you can shoot it very fast and accurate. I love that little machine.

xcr micro's con is its "price" while all firearms mag limitations are a "con" to all of us canadians

I nearly put the Swiss CQB on the list, but I'm pretty sure I won't be able to find one in the low $2k range, which would for sure be my cap.

The PWS Diablo gives me wood as well, but for this purchase it's going to be non-AR.

Who sells the MP9 in Canada? Forgot about that one, def a fair contender.

Wolverine, I think blue line may as well. You can pick them up for 2500 with a new aimpoint H1 mounted ontop. The MP9 isn't cheap, but its really nice.

JR Carbine, Beretta CX 4 Storm (9mm,40 or 45)

Both have restricted and non restricted options.

Klenzer, but what is the main intended purpose going to be? SHTF, range fun, hunting, cool factor, versatility...?
The list you have is made up of guns which are too different in my opinion.

Since it's restricted
-range fun
-cool factor.
then i would say 7.5" barrelled CSA in 7.62 when you pull it out at the range the guys will be flocking to you as to a hot blond chick at a drunken party :)
ammo is cheap, the rifle is under 1000 bucks. my second choice would be B&7 - twice the price, but available picatinny rails so you can put a laser sight,
since it is 9 mm so you will not have any problem shooting at the indoor range, some ranges do not allow rifle calibers/surplus ammo indoor.

I agree with everything he said.

I have a CSA 7.5 and it is so much fun. Cheap to shoot and gets a lot of attention at the range.

I am currently trying to get my hands on a B&T, I didn't catch the last one on the EE in time, so I am on the hunt again.

I personally saw the_klenzer's reaction to a shorty CSA at the range and can confirm his reaction was the same. His own blond chick might not want to know that though.

Sirprised no one have mentioned the Tavor yet, might not be a short barrel rifle, but the overall length is the same as most of the SBR
