Hey folks

I just purchased a DPMS AR-15 Oracle A3 from our friends over at SFRC. This is my first AR... and I need a red dot. What would you recommend? I've found these two that are appealing to me, but all recommendations are welcome;

Bushnell AR Optics TRS-25 HiRise Red Dot Riflescope with Riser Block, 1x25mm (80 bucks from CTD)
Redfield Counterstrike (150 Gander MTN)

Thanks!!!

Vortex Sparc is very good value too. It comes with a nice mount which has 3 or 4 height options (Low, medium, co-witness, and 1/3co-witness (I think)), rubber front&rear lens cover, turret&battery caps have retaining wire attached, AND it has a 2 MOA dot. Grouse River has them for $175 (The Sparc 2 is $240), I bought mine about 3 months ago then upgraded to Butler Creek size #04 flip caps, which are $40 delivered from Amazon.ca

I picked up the same AR, I ordered the vortex strikefire red dot from SFRC as they had the best price and free shipping.
I also ordered some fab defense flip up iron sights and a quad rail, plus some Magpul accessories. I can't fackin wait to get it. By CP's estimated date it should be Monday!

For the price, I really don't think you can beat the Vortex Sparc II. I have two and so far so good. Mind you those two ARs have been dropped out of a helo, but I'm pretty sure they'd take a good kicking around and keep on working.

I have three TRS-25's and I think they cannot be beaten for the money. The Vortex SPARC would be my next choice for the price. A Hensoldt would be the cat's meow if you can track one down for a good price, but I think those days are over. In the same league would be the various Aimpoints of course.

If you're looking for good performance and good value, I can recommend 2. The Browning Buck Mark Reflex is a $50-$60 red dot with various target reticle selections and works very well. The Tasco red dot also works very well. Another $50 dot.

I have the sparc, TRS-25 and the fast fire 3. The trs25 is my first choice, closely followed by the sparc. The sparc is good, but i keep putting it into night vision mode. Trs has longer battery life and more brightness settings. FF3 still at warranty center.

EDIT: Burris shipped me a brand new unit from their warranty center. It's holding up to shotgun recoil no problem now.

I had a TRS-25. It was as good as anything under $400. I sold it because I have 2 Aimpoint's & an Eotech so I wasn't using it. Other than reputation for durability & the incredible battery life, the Aimpoint's have nothing on the TRS-25. Buy with confidence...
