Hi Everybody!
Lookin to add the next piece as I am missing a bolt action in the collection, I have a bias towards rifles with open sights and wood stocks. Relatively new to long range, I would say 70% at the range, 30% hunting use wise.
Would love to hear feedback from the community with regards to
1) long lasting reliability
2) customer service of the manufacturer
3) accuracy department
4) any common frustrations with these models
If you could only have 1, which would it be?
Thanks!
First , the do-it-all rifle doesn't exist.
Second , never in my life would i want to be limited to only one rifle.
When talking ''long range target shooting '', we usually think of big heavy barrels and rifles with high magnifications scopes on them. .308 is a good choice for that matter.
What kind a hunter are you ? Resting in a blind or a walking hunter scouting on accidented terrains ?
Weight can be an important caracteristic to consider here.
The prettiest rifle i owned was a High Grade Winchester Featherweight and is certainly a desirable huntig rifle.
My CZ 550 Medium Lux is too but the scope is highly placed to clear the sights and makes it less comfortable for target use. The Bavarian stock is not ideal for a good cheek weld. Heavier rifle too.
My Savage 10 FCP McM is target oriented , is very precise but i would'n like to go hunting with her.
The 550 is now a big game oriented magnum action.
For a dandy , pretty wood rifle , Winchester Supergrade or Featherweight is a good choice.
If i was going to absolutely have an open sights rifle in .308 , CZ 557 Range would be considerated.
In the ''used'' department you can have some great finds if your patient enough.
'' Only one ''...pfff !
