My 10/22 is used for small game hunting, with shots usually 30 yards or less, lots of walking, often in the snow. My eyes don't like iron sights as much as they used to, so I'm trying to decide on optics.

I'm torn between a red dot or a low power (1.5, 1.75) variable scope. In both cases I've been thinking about a Bushnell Trophy product. Help me choose

For $200 it gives me the best of both worlds, however in bright daylight the 1 moa red dot fades away. In the bush where I hunt grouse it works though.

There is also a Bushnell Trophy 1 x 28 red dot with the different reticles on the EE right now for $95 if you dont want the magnification.

Ill be at Silverdale today with mine! LOL
See you around!

I dont know what kind of prices you are looking at - but as a cheepskate I decided to check out canadian tire for scopes to mount on my 10/22. I ended up buying a crosman scope for rimfire rifles for $50. Now that I have it, I could not be happier. It was cheap and the thing holds its zero perfectly. It was easy to sight it in. Ive been getting clean head shots on rabbits with it. I didnt want to buy a $400 scope for my $250 10/22. I am very pleased with this scope. http://www.canadiantire.ca/AST/brow...49P/Crosman%25AE%2B4032%2BScope.jsp?locale=en

I had an old Crosman 4x airgun scope I used at first, and it was awful (keep in mind I've had it for at least 10 years, it's been used and abuse, even opened, and never cleaned). I just replaced it with a Tasco rimfire 3-9x32 and the difference is night and day. I was between this and a Simmons rimfire...this was the same price but came with a bore snake that I needed anyway, so here we are. I'm not a good enough shot yet to need a really fancy scope. My only regret is that this has caps and requires a screwdriver or coin to adjust, whereas the Simmons had finger-adjustable turrets. Also from lebaron, with 10% member discount...somewhere around the $50 range I believe.
