I went to Bass Pro with some buddies yesterday, and we all need a moose gun.

We're were all set on a savage, but after handling a few guns I think I've changed my mind.

So I would like your inputs please!!

I like the Browning A-bolts as I am familiar with them. But not the X-bolts.

But I have two Tikkas [previous series to the T3 - the 595/695 series] so I voted Tikka.

I only have one .270 though and it's on a Rem 700.

If I was going new I might look at the Rem 700 SPS stainless in .270

'Course a 7mm-08 or .260 would be my first choices ctg in a new rifle, though.

NAA.

Why buy new when you have till next fall to get a good deal on the EE?

OTOH .... I'd buy a 700 SPS and replace the junky tupperware stock down the road when funds allow. Both the guns mentioned are no easy to restock.

.

I'm leaning towards the tikka anyways, but still on the fence.
I will get one of those 2 guns because i like the feel and the look of both.
I'm simply looking for what the crowds think and any related experience they may have

Out of those two, I voted Tikka, I like the T3's, very light and very accurate. With that said I'd probably pick the x-bolt if I were buying for myself, because I'd go 7-08, and I think the browning offers two action sizes. My personal 270 is a rem mountain rifle, and I can't think of any better. I don't mind the floor plate vs clip, I just dislike blind mags.

I said Tikka. Shoot very well outa the box. They do have a crummy plastic feel. If you can live with that, I beleive they are the better shooting rifle.

Browning has a more solid feel and have been a workhorse rifle (the name) for years. X Bolt is new to the market and does have some nice ideas to it.

The tikka was actually nice, not a cheap plastic feel, almost as nice as the browning's dura-coat stuff
