Help me pick my first shotgun!

This guys is also on the short list. Of all the guns I've shouldered so far the a400 xplor felt the best, even next to the ehos. With that said I really like the action and feed of the ethos. Unfortunately I can't find these locally used and new just eats the entire budget.
How firm are you on that used gun being local?

Not at all, I do tons of sales online. I'm waiting for approval right now to get access to the buy/sell forum so I can start parusing here. I've been going through the usedfirearms.ca options but I'm a bit leery of 95% of those sellers.

Op- im in the same boat as you, archery guy converted to guns haha. I have my heart set on the ethos, and have a similar budget. Which one did you end up picking?

I am a huge fan of beretta, I have an a300 and an a391. Awesome guns, if you go for one make sure you get it with kickoff recoil reduction. You can shoot all day and not feel it later

+1 great guns. The gas system and kick off together are amazing. The gun is very light and still has very mild recoil.

Just to throw it out there... The weatherby SA-08 deluxe is a beautiful gas semi. I researched like crazy and ended up getting one. Light gun, light recoil, reliable and very well finished. Just over $800 on sale at Cabelas. The only real downside is that there are two gas valves that have to be manually switched out if you want to reliably cycle heavy or light loads. Apparently the SA-08 is a copy of an older beretta design exept they added the valve system to increase reliability.

The newer berettas seem to cycle everything without an extra part to keep track of.

you are probably doing it right, but for me I would get a decent used pump, a beater truck, a tank of gas, and take the wife out for supper
