Help me pick my next pistol.

I have no experience with the Ruger at all. The Glock 17 and M&P 9 are a hard choice between the two. I'd still take Glock 17 first, but after running my son's M&P9 range kit a little, there's nothing but good things for me to say about this. My next new pistol in 2013 was going to be another Glock, a 21SF. After using the M&P, I think I'll go M&P 45, it looks great and I like variety for comparison if for nothing else. Misanthropist spoke highly of the M&P45 so with my own appreciation for the M&P9 and respect for his pistol experience the M&P45 looks like a definite choice. The range and carry kit he purchased was incredible at $629.00. Holster, 3 mags, etc etc and a nice pistol box.

Good luck with your purchase.

Try all 3 if you can, but I don't think you'll go wrong by choosing the Ruger SR9. I have one and I love it. It's extremely reliable, eats any ammo I feed it, is very easy to strip down for cleaning, and is as accurate as you can hold it. It's not likely you can find a G17 or M&P 9 for the price of the Ruger, so you can buy some more magazines, a holster and mag pouches, or more ammo for the same price.

Some people have issues with the trigger on the Ruger. There is a kit out there that smooths it up right away, or you can shoot a few hundred rounds through it and notice how much smoother the trigger has become. It's just a matter of break-in.

1 more vote for the SR9, great little gun. the triggere was way better then an out of the box glock or M&P. My friends did the tourcher test on it a few years ago and it wouldn't die. they had to use pop to cool down the barrel from all the rounds they put through it and that didn't stop it. if i didn't already have 2 glocks I'd pick one up for production division
