Help me select first 9mm

My dad recently got an SP-01 and loves it. Excellent, reliable gun with superb ergonomics right out of the box for almost half the cost of the Sig. The only problems so far is that it seemed to be a bit finnicky about the type of ammo he was using at first (lower power hand loads were stovepiping), although it seems to have gotten over that. Also, the stock guide rod is plastic, but you can order steel ones on-line. As somebody else mentioned before, the triggers aren't great - a bit gritty and loooooong pull, but this can be fixed as well. I have no experience with Sig, but am aware of their reputation (and price tag) so I'm sure you couldn't go wrong.
 
I know my dad got his from Illingworth Imports in Saskatchewan (www.airgunsonly.com) for $795 and had it shipped to him on Vancouver Island. From the site it looks like they only sell airguns, but they will get "real" guns for you as well. Somebody a while ago mentioned that a store in Alberta called Guns & Things has them for $765.

I have SP01 Tactical and I love it. It will shoot better than you can for a long
time.

I tried 226, but the grips were too big for me, I did not like the sights either.

Get SP01 tactical.

Remember it is your first pistol, not the last.

Why bother with neutered double stack mags in Canada if you want 9mm?

Oh, if you can find one Sig 220 in 9mm.

If you have small hands (like me) you'll probably enjoy and find the XD more acurate for you than the glock (which feels like a brick if you have small hands) Also, if you want to shoot cast bullets, the XD is ready to go, in a glock you need to change the barrel. Finally you can get the XD with holster, mag pouch and gun for less then the glock.
 
CZ SP01 sweet sweet 9mm.

I have HK's and my SP01 will out shoot my HK's hands down. Dollar for dollar I do not believe that there is anything to match the CZ in quality, accuracy and reliability.

We all have our loved ones and swear by them , like faithful mates, but the cold hard fact
is that you cannot get a bigger or better bang for the buck than with a CZ.

For a starter 9mm CZ is top notch, the bench mark if you wish of 9's . In time you will gravitate to what you like, love and thats great.

Most have numerous makes and models, all swear by something, me I love them all :)

Go get one, one that fits your hand and feels comfortable, buy it, get lots of ammo go have fun and then repeat process :)

GLOCK

22,000 rounds second barrel and no real hickups. However, once it did do a four round burst in -35 degree temps... I also rarely cleaned it :redface: And this was a Gen I Glock.
