Never reloaded in my life, but have a slim idea as to how. I have no supplies or books. I'm wanting to reload 9mm for a cz75. Can I get info and tips on what to buy and where? (Lower mainland)

Go on You Tube and do a search for "hickock45 reloading" and watch his very well done series on reloading.

Start with this one;

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=irC3NuIKDm4

There's dozens of other videos as well. While shopping and trying to decide on a press just search You Tube with the press name and watch a few videos to get a feel for it.

An excellent source for most of your needs will be Budget Shooter Supply. Click on his link at the top of the page.

This won't mean anything yet but keep it in mind for once you are started. Our CZ's have short chamber reliefs so they are not tolerant to longer Over All Length (OAL). So once you get started load the bullets so the OAL is 1.10. This is technically on the short side of the acceptable range but we need to make them that long to allow the rounds to fit and the slide to close fully. But since 9mm has such a small case volume you want to take note of any loading data along with the OAL given with that data. If the data you're looking at shows a 1.15 or longer OAL then figure on reducing the max load by a little as your needed deeper seating means a higher peak pressure compared to what the data will list for the longer OAL.

Like I say, it may not mean much now but it will once you start learning. And it's just a fact of life for us CZ'ers.

I'm not going to recomend a press or other stuff since they ALL work. And you haven't given us any idea of budget or the amount of ammo you shoot per month. So it's impossible to get any more specific. Also do you shoot any other guns besides your 9mm that you would like to reload at some point?

If 9mm is all you need to reload and if you only shoot a couple of thousand rounds a year then I'd suggest you simply drive to Custom Reloading in Maple Ridge and buy their reasonably priced reloads. 9mm is the least cost effective round to reload. You need to be shooting many thousands of rounds per year to justify reloading only 9mm.

Start with a copy of The ABC's of Reloading. About $30 from your local gun shop or Amazon.
Then look into an RCBS Beginner's Kit. Comes with everything you need less dies(think carbide only for handgun cartridges) and shell holder. Runs around $500ish plus the cost of the dies(all makes will fit all presses. 7/8-14 is the standard thread.) and shell holder, but there are sales on. Cabela's wants $349.98 and there's a factory rebate.
Buy a Lyman manual too. The kits come with a manual, but the Lyman book is more versatile.
RCBS just because of their warrantee. Bit pricier kit but the warrantee is 'replacement value' forever. Even if you buy used. Used isn't ugly either. Takes a lot of abuse to damage reloading kit.
Your local gun shop is as good a place as any to buy. You can buy equipment from the States, but no components(bullets, primers, powder and cases). Not really great given the current exchanged rate and shipping costs. Ditto for buying components on-line. Shipping will negate any cost savings.

I started reloading 4 months ago, I'm doing .223,.45 LC and as soon as my 9 mm dies arrive , I'll be loading them as well. I started with the RCBS rockchucker supreme kit, RCBS tumbler, RCBS dies and shell holders . I use the Speer manual that came with it. Because I use a lot of Hornady bullets I also got their manual. Also , Hodgdonreloading site is excellent . Look around for components, budget is as good a place as any. Take your time and ask lots of questions on CGN. I had a few hiccups, but thanks to the knowledgable and patient people on here , I'm getting it done.

Get a progressive press - if you're only doing 9mm I heartily recommend a Dillon Square Deal. That's the big difference between pistol and rifle reloading; I'd do-up 50 rounds of .303 and ~ a third of them would come home from the range with me. I'd do-up 100 rds of .45 and they'd be gone in under 15 minutes. :(

Just because there are so many Vids out there for ZDillon look for Dillon press setup on Youtube it will definitely give you a sense for what you're in for..

As for equipment try to buy the best loading items you can afford..

1st thing to get is a reloading manual.
2nd thing----read it.

People gave me this advice two years ago and i hated it, and did not go thru with it.
My version of it, hire an experienced reloader at the range to come at your place and set you up good.
Ask him plenty of questions on how and why its done, take notes!
