I just bought an 870 marine magnum with a knoxx special op stock....looking to get and optical rail...red bot or holo and an over sized safety...what are the recommended hardware combos...should i put a shell carrier on...for ipsc 3 gun and tactical games at the club... and HD....thanks TAZZY.... ps I was looking at s&j hardware stuff and a pdp3 red dot

I think S&J carries the stuff you're looking for... as for what you should or shouldn't do, it depends on how you want your 870 to end up. If you're planning on doing competitions, then a shell carrier might be a good idea. But, you don't need an excuse to personalize a firearm... if you think it looks cool, and it works for you, then put the shell carrier on. IIRC, Remington has rails that'll mount on any 870, even without drilled/tapped holes in the reciever. Check out the Remington website and ask your local firearms shop.

tazzy we do carry alot of the tactical shotgun stuff, the mail thing is if you goig nto be doign any action shooting with your shotgun you need tocarry alot of ammo
stuff to buy for sure is a side saddle and belt ammo holders maybe even a long ammo belt
we have all of these items in stock
we allso stock soe mmesa tactical stock adaptors as wellas makeour own stock adaptor.
If your not the kinda persone that wants to put it all togeather we can allso do that for you.

Not trying to be a douche but you should personalize it to your own likings not other peoples likings, thus "personalize", I personally would put a Mesa 6 shell side saddle, knoxx spec opps stock, front pistol grip, and a barrel heat shield. The only downside for me is the MM does not have removable chokes.... go figure.

sorry im going to have to say it.but i think its a waste of a marine magnum to pimp it up.i have one just as it came stock its just to pretty to hide all that nickel.now dont get thinkin i have a safe queen.far from that my marine rides front and center on my quad and has over 9000kms on here and still looks great.
anyway yes i agree s&j for sure man.i have a an 870tactical that im still working on.i have the bayo adapter from s&j great item.great for the shock value at the range with my ontario knife m-9 bayo on it.go with mesa tactical shot holders if you dont intend on needing to leave ammo on the gun as they dont recomend that.besides they make both side carriers as ihave the 6 and 4 shot holders plus the knoxx powerpack that holds 5.i would recomend mesa stuff for sure.dont cheap out man on parts it be like putting hubcaps on ferrari.
great choice for an sg.

Okay, so you've got a Marine Magnum and a Knoxx stock already. I'd say that's a good place to start.

You don't seem 100% certain of what you want to do, so "bolt-on" modifications are probably a good way to go. I know that I tried a fe things with my 870 before I got it to a setup that felt right for me.

Like BBB says, you're probably going to want to carry bunch of ammo for tactical/3 gun competitions. A sidesaddle carrier is easy (and cheap) to add. I wasn't a big fan of the Knoxx PowerPak ammo carrier, but that's just me.

If you want to add a red dot, here's what I would see as your options:

-A speed-bead type that mounts between your stock and the receiver (small optic, bolt-on)

-A "saddle" type pic rail (bolt-on)

-A pic rail mounted right to the top of your receiver (you'll probably want a smith to do this)

The last two ways of putting the rail on offer the advantage of using any optic you want. If you can, try out some optics belonging to other folks and see what works for you.

What you're planning isn't my cup of tea...I like matte finishes and ghost rings on shotguns - but if it's what you want, enjoy it until you are blue in the face and don't listen to folks that slag you just because your 870 doesn't conform to their idea of "tactikewl".

What ever you do, do it right and do it once and do it the way you want it. I just ordered some stuff yesterday from BBB at S&J Hardware, he doesn't know it yet but he's my new friend lol.

This is what I ordered, AR15/870 butt stuck, houge grip and rail package, mag followers (the one that came with the 870 is a piece of crap), Jumbo safety button and mesa 6 shot shellholder. Once I get more dinero I will getting more stuff.

This what my shotty looks like today.

A few days ago I posted some pics of my Rem 870 Express Tactica and I said I would add some stuff to it, well it's done and voila.

The next thing I want to do is put some backup sights, Tactical flashlight and maybe a lazer sight

TAZZY9899 I hope this can help you in deciding what you want to do.

I would like to thank BadBoyBeeson for the excellent service.

I have 2 quotes to use here ... if it is a penny for your thoughts but everybody puts their 2 cents in, then someone is making a penny. And for my 2 cents here comes the other quote K.I.S.S. for the Keep it simple stupid theory ... from my experience the more LCF (Look Cool Factor) you have ... the more there is to maintain and definately the more there is to go wrong. I always wonder about the so called PPC and IPSC shooters that have all the fancy attachments. The name implies practical ... or real world, yet I have only seen minor "attachments" or "improvements" on a tactical teams equipment. I wonder why? IMHO the more streamlined the equipment ... the more tactical it is. Less things to snag, catch, or just get in the way, and giving away ones position. Some of the most tactical people are currently overseas ( I would also like to add that we all take a moment every once in awhile and think of both the men and women that do not make it home to their families and the soldiers and do), but I digress ... go to youtube and check out the tacticool equipment they have ... it works ... and most importantly ... it works.

BBB, I currently have a saddlemount on my 870, but I'd also like a sidesaddle shell carrier. How can I do this?

Wow! who sh$t in your cornflakes today? All it is is a bunch of guys having a little fun doing what they want. If it means tacticooling their firearms so be it. As far as being practical who cares it doesn't matter, it's not like you can use your guns anywhere but the gun range.

Concerning our Canadian soldiers, I'm a big supporter of these fighting men and women and at the same time I feel sad when we lose one of them, because I know their fighting a losing battle. If you think their fighting for anyones freedom your kidding yourself, their fighting because someone's is making money on this war.

Sorry for the rant. He just sh$t in my cornflakes.
