Check GunBroker on ANY platform... there is a high demand in the US gun market now... guns are selling for more in USD than the same gun is selling in CDN... and that is across the board...

It was just an analogy in determining "value."

GL 12 being readily available with a commonly known retail value. No further consideration needed.

Port Ellen being wildly speculative and overpriced due to extreme rarity (distillery closed in the 80s).

A nice pre64 94 falling somewhere in between was my analysis: not super rare but also not on the shelf at every Cabelas.
 
I am getting more confused about the pricing of guns, as we discuss it further! I acknowledge that all guns are priced higher in the US. Why are
we getting a free ride here in Canada? For some guns, there is an easy explanation: SVT-40 cannot be imported into US so they got dumped here.
How about the Model 94, especially pre-64? How is the current price being shielded from influence from the US?:confused:

The main reason for the higher prices stateside is a huge market of gun consumers there. It has been that way for years and in Canada the demand just isn't there compared to the U.S.. I think the number of gun enthusiasts has fallen in Canada in the last 20 years due to stupid legislation and a drift away from the shooting sports and collecting.
 
A number of years back, I remember reading that overall, Canada represents only 5% of market sales for firearms in North America. The article was something to do with Rugers warehouses still being stocked while guys were waiting for months...even into the second year for certain handguns. ! I was quite surprised...shocked really. I would have figured we were bigger players overall. I guess, if that figure still holds true, they'd likely value us Canuks as petty stuff in their monetary eyes.

As said earlier... supply and demand set the price... it doesn't matter what you "think" a gun should sell for, it only matters what it "does" sell for... and in Canada, they sell at a lower price point in CDN than they do stateside in USD. I have three imports coming up right now, and believe me, I am paying through the nose for them... but they are ones I have been searching for for a long time and don't intend to resell (any time soon). There is always the chance that you might run into a buyer seeking a rifle from his birth year or other obscure personal preference, who is willing to pay more than "market value." In my opinion, those special purchases do not adjust "market value."
 
it may be for peace of mind, knowing a value for it. Perhaps the Op just wants to know if he overpaid or underpaid or just how good a deal he got on it!
 
Is this pre 64 3030 model 94 worth more ? or less because it has been restocked ? tape wast protect butt when moving in & out of safe




 
^ devalued! Big time! That tape looks like the roll I have, sooooooooo sticky! You won't get the sticky chit off without a heavy duty cleaner which will ruin the finish of the wood, you are looking at another refinish!
