A guy I know has a couple pistols that I've got some interest in obtaining. The first one is a Series 80 Colt MKIV Gold Cup National Match, from the 90's. It looks brand new I took some pictures with my cell phone camera I'll try to attach later. The only problem with it is that the guy tried to get the slide lock off some some reason and there's a bunch of scratches on the left side.

The second pistol didn't have any model numbers on it, Says : Husqvarna Vapenfabriks Aktiebolag System Browning. He says it was a side arm from a pilot in the war. 9mm he says, but not sure if its para or not..

Can anyone help me attach a value to these? He's willing to let the Husqvarna go for $400, but the Colt he wants $850. Seems to be a little high for the colt... Anyhow any help identify the second pistol that would be good too

Bad picture, and what is that lock in the trigger guard supposed to do?

The Husqvarna m1903/7 is definitely not a 9 mm Parabellum, 9x20mm Browning Long cartridge. Like a pumped up 380 Auto. This gun does not have a locked action. With a blow back action you are limited to lower power rounds.

While a decent gun I think the value would be more like $250. I paid about half that for mine.

Check out the following. http://www.gotavapen.se/gota/m07/pist07_1.htm

If the Gold Cup is in excellent condition then $850 is a good deal. The scratches on the 1911 are sometimes referred to as an "idiot scratch" because it can happen when reinstalling the slide stop pin after field striping. I've done it and I could cry when it happens but once you do this once and ruin a perfect finish you'll likely never do it again. I now use a dental instrument to help ease the slide stop pin into the frame to avoid the "idiot scratch". Many used 1911's have it. Hope this helps.

The gold cup has about 100 rounds through it he says, it looks it too. I'd be shooting it, I don't believe in letting it sit in a safe. Just gotta convince myself I need it :)

I could be wrong (so I am told all the time), but I am sure the
brownig long cart. is out of production.
if so the gun is way over priced

COLT PIC ADDED. I couldn't take a pic of the Colt, but that is the EXACT one in the picture. Just picture a bunch of scratches around the slide lock

As well it's the dreaded Series 80 as opposed to the collectible series 70.. still a good gun but $800 is pretty much the top

That is the worst, most moronic mess of scratchs I have ever seen on a 1911.......it's like he used a screwdriver to pry it out.........brutal. I'm glad you got this gun away from the guy......
It would have to be blasted and reblued to remove.

I'm still on the fence about buying it, I just had to get some more opinions. I don't think he'll let it got for less than 850... but if I show up with $800 cash he might change his mind

Forget it then, buy something else. When you buy a used Colt, you are paying a 50% premium just for the name......it doesn't have a wide grip safety which makes 1911's much nicer to shoot, & it's an 80's series.

I am not sure but does not look to be a Gold Cup.. I have to check it out but I think the hammer is wrong and that safety ???

another thing did you say it only shot a couple of hundred rounds ???

Gte the serial and check it out at Colt's they will tell what this was..

If someone handles the slide stop in that fashion , I would be suspect of what else he has done to this baby..

Though, taoday in the hands of a good smith, this Colt will certainly come back to life, and I predict that it will soon become you fav shooter.

Don't leave that gun in his hands, you mmust buy for the good of gun .. It needs a good home, and some TLC, tell him you will report him to the Abused Colt Society (ACS)...
