Im looking for a 1-5 or better yet 1-6 magnifier to stick infront of my red dot.

Can someone suggest something for me?

I found this one but only on air soft sites or alibaba for $80-$120 so im wondering if this is a replica of another, and if so of which magnifier because i kind if like it. But again im open to other suggestions.

Im looking at the Vortex strikfire as my red dot, seems the best bang for the buck when next to an aimpoint.

This is what im looking for 1-6x magnifier --> decent Red dot --> swing mount for magnifier.

Most magnifiers don't work properly, period. Here's why:

#1: Tinted optics become very dark when viewed through the magnifier. This applies to most red dot/"holo" sights. They reflect a reticle, lit by an led, on a reflective surface, that is darker, by neccessity.

#2: Small allignment issues become big blurry messes, once magnification is involved. Red dots and "holo" sights are not free from paralax issues when viewed through a magnifier.

#3: Optics that are clear, and magnifiers that are clear, may not be when combined. Trust me, tried a bunch.

Bottom line: If you spend enough, and buy products that are designed for each other, it will work well. If you don't, don't bother. I'm using a Eotech 512 and magnifier setup like this, and once you use a Yankee hill or Larue riser, it works great. $500+ optic, $60-190 riser, $150-500 flip to side magnifier= voila! excellent setup.
The eotech is a true holographic site, no dark film for reflection, truly paralax free, wide view, small center dot, with a purpose built magnifier, and alignment shim kit. Every shortcut I tried, sucked.

Yeah, I know, that's not a 512, that's why I needed the riser.

Ps. I want a writing credit when the story runs. Reporter.

I did enough research to blow my mind.

look up lucid hd7 and their 1-5x mag
but looking through it compared to an acog or elcan.

so save ur pennies and get an elcan DR like ended up goin with, best thing ull do in a while.

check my replica thread for pics on page 4 or 5

I have a lucid hd7 as well, but no 1-5x magnifier. The 2x magnifier is useless, as it has almost no noticable magnification, but increases the "tunnel" effect. Having said that, it's a nice little optic for the buck.

Or just buy 2 seperate optics. Get the red dot for cqb type work and a higher mag optic for longer range stuff. With the quality qd mounts you should hold your zeros.
